2007 Pioneer PDP-5010FD Plasma TV

This was my first HD TV and the first plasma set I ever bought. I wanted to research the top three brands Pioneer, Panasonic and Samsung. Sharp and many other manufacturers use components made by other manufacturers which is not a bad thing per se. By the way, Pioneer invented the first flat screen TV. I read a lot of good reviews on the net and decided on this one. I think it's a really good set. There are NOT a lot of HD broadcasts on my cable system that "wow" me other than sports and news channels. To really enjoy movies on DVDs I think you have to buy a Blu-Ray or HD-DVD player since regular DVD is just acceptable. Watch out for variable pricing on this TV. I spent a lot of time looking for a good price and bought mine for $3,268 total which included shipping and insurance. Beware of sellers with add on terms such as extended shipping costs, heavy insurance premiums, or add on warranties that if you don't agree to; they'll just hold your money then cancel and refund when they feel like it.
