  Great Deck - Fantastic Upgrade

If you aren't looking for DVD playbook functionality or a navigation system, this deck is a wonderful choice. It has bluetooth and ipod connection capability built in so you don't need to spend extra to get it. Some features, like being able to turn off the display for times you just want it to be dark in the car, are things I haven't seen from other decks. The absolute only thing I was a little dissapointed by was that it doesn't have a power antenna lead. I had to use the amp remote lead for the antenna and amplifier. For me, it just means the antenna will be up any time the deck is on, not just when I am listening to the radio. For those that don't have a power antenna on the vehicle, you won't even notice. I just thought it was odd not to have an antenna lead coming from the deck. All-in-all, pleasantly surprised and am always happy with Pioneer/Premier items.

Pioneer FH-P800BT Excellent System for the money

I bought this system instead of an AVIC or other form of In dash DVD player. It has bluetooth which syncs up with my HTC TYNN II perfectly. In fact it recognized my phone before my phone recognized it. The USB plug n' play MP3 feature is perfect and couldn't be easier or sound better. Audio file selection is easy as could be. This is the best bank for your buck out there. People would be regretful to pass this one up.

  Blue tooth Stereo

This is the second Pioneer Blue tooth radio that we have. The older unit has a better blue tooth system in it. These unit are true blue tooth ready no adapters needed ready to go blue tooth out of the box. The newer model has a hard time with several of the phones we have. But the older model connects fine to all of our phones. The set-up of the Pioneers is a little tricky but if you can follow them they give alot of flexibility in customizing the sysyem. The sound quality is good. The CD player is very stable (we live on a dirt road and this deck does not turn off the music from the bumpy roads). Do not like the fact that Pioneer no longer supplies a paper owners manual only a disk. Im sorry I don't have a computer in my car and having to go back and forth from my computer to the car and print a section here a section there is a pain. For hands free buy the older unit(7900-bt) if you do not need a double din the performance of the blue tooth is superior by a long shot to the new unit. Now if sound quality is your main thing the 800-bt is better. The new unit is a premier the amp is a little cleaner and has a sound recovery system which improves the sound of mp3s. The display is not as bright as some of the older pioneers which I find alot nicer than the older units even at night the display is pleasent not too bright the old units you could almost read a book in your car from the light from the display. In regards to the blue tooth performance I have found that there is a hit or miss factor in most blue tooth items there are literally hundreds of company making blue tooth items out there. Not all of them like to play with each other so if hands free is the way you want to go you may have to switch your phone to get one that works well with whatever unit you buy. I had to switch back to my old phone to get one that worked.
Pro:Blue tooth ready out of the box. I like the double din. The double din looks nice and is nicer to use while driving(buttons easier to find) Flexablity in unit setup. Sound quality. Sound recovery system for mp3s

Con: Blue tooth performance with certain phones poor to none. Difficult setup and complicated. No paper manual hard with such a complex setup.

Likely to buy again= 2.5 out of 5

  Good item for the price

I bought a refurbished unit but it is just like brand new as far as I can see. This unit is replacing a much more expensive Kenwood unit that was stolen from my truck. This one actually sounds better than the $1200.00 Kenwood. If you are trying to decide between the 800 and the 8000 models I would definately go with the 800 due to the fact you get the Ipod cable with it and you can completely turn off the internal amp if you aren't using it. Do plan on spending some time with your nose in the 80 page manual because the controls are definately not self explanatory but once you get the hang of it it is easy to use and the bluetooth feature is really neat. The biggest thing keeping this unit from getting my highest rating is the appearance and the big joystick knob in the middle of it. For the price an excellent radio that sounds great and has some really cool features.
