Pioneer DVR-810H (80 GB) DVD Recorder

I bought the Pioneer 810H-S DVR with DVD Recorde becuase my wife wanted to record shows and watch then after she put the kids to bed. Anyone with young kids knows that you might catch every third word on the TV while the kids are attempting to get your attention in any possible maner.

Anyway the biggest problem I had with getting a DVR is the monthly fee of $14-$20 and Tivo no longer sells lifetime subscriptions. After some research I found out that there are a few models that come with the lifetime service included with the equipment made in years past and the 810H-S is one of them.

After buying it on EBAY used we got it in the mail and imidetaly after plugging it in the screen came up and was very easy and self intuitive to do the setup. Also Pioneer has all the manuals on line for free so we didn't have to guess at the user features of what it can and can't do.

We have had the unit for a week and I can't beleive we wathched TV any other way. For example say you need to make a snack and your show is starting just hit the pause button go make the snack and come back "You won't miss a thing" Same idea with potty breaks, run to the neighbors, mailbox, ect. The best part is fast forwarding through the commercials it feels like your literally STICKING IT TO THE MAN! What a glorious feeling of control.
