Because all your favorite movies are filmed at 24 frames-per-second (fps) while most home video systems are equipped to display video at 30fps, most standard systems have to subject film-based video content to alterations that make the 24fps content display ay 30fps. While this solves the problem, it also causes others — this alteration often results in the appearance of artifacts, or distortion of the video image. Tru24fsp capability, on the other hand, offers processing that seamlessly transfers the 24fps content on your favorite Blu-ray movie to your 24fps-compatible HDTV. Video as the director intended.

    This new player finally shows the potential of Blu-Ray for both video and audio quality. Essentially identical to the Pioneer Elite BDP-05FD, the player passes 1080p at 24 fps to compatible displays via HDMI 1.3a. It also uses Wolfson DAC's to produce superior sound quality via it's analog outputs to my Sony TA-P9000ES 5.1 preamp.
    Overall a HUGE improvement over my Pioneer Elite BDP-94HD in picture and sound, and comparable build quality to the famed Pioneer Elite DV-38a. Highly recommended.

    This unit is amazing. I have a LCD TV 52" SONY Bravia and this Blu-ray player makes the most of it. Picture and sound are wonderful and you don't really want to watch less quality after that.Even the old DVDs seem to become more alive and 3D. I'm sure that this blu-ray player, which is made in Japan by the way, can compete with the overpriced Denon or Marantz at any time. I had other Bluray players, Sony, LG,Panasonic but this Pioneer BDP-51FD is a class above all of them.
