Pink Floyd - Pulse (DVD, 2006, 2-Disc Set)

When I was a Masters student in 1994, I traveled to the U. of Iowa to present at a conference. While walking outside that night over the campus bridge, all of a sudden, a burst of fabulous lights & Pink Floyd came flowing vibrantly clear sounds across the campus. We could see & hear their whole concert from our vantage point. Who cared about having a seat for it? We were on our feet the whole time, standing mesmerized.

I was a die-hard fan by 1974, after the 1973 release of the "Dark Side of the Moon," vinyl album. "The Wall," in both 2 disc CD & DVD forms became tied for Best Album with the former "Dark Side," as far as I was concerned. Who's to say which one is greater, when both are beyond the edge in every aspect, blowing every other band off the charts.

Now both albums are blended together (& more) in P.U.L.S.E., the Dolby Digital 5.1 stereo live recording at Earls Court in London, England, on October, 20th, 1994.

The double DVD set is enclosed in a colorful laminated sturdy jacket. Inside there's a pocket with a mini 'program' of all that's on both DVDs. The centerfold if full of photographs of the band playing live, including still shots of their fabulous light show. I saw those green laser-like lights that night on the Iowa campus. They lit up the starry sky (on a drenched campus that had nearly been flooded out) for what seemed like miles. I can hardly believe I get to relive that lucky moment every time I play these DVDs. No one told us, the conference attendees, that Pink Floyd was on campus! Had I known, I'd have found a way in.

In retrospect, I realize now, we had the best view outside of the stadium looking downward onto the stage from a distance because it made Pink Floyd's amazing light show all the more spectacular & grand.

I have the VHS version and glad that Pink Floyd finally released it on DVD. This is absolutely better than the VHS version - maybe due to my upgraded systems (LOL). Get your's today!

Yes, I believe Roger Waters was the embodiment of Pink Floyd- but you know what? Dave Gilmour has quite the knack for carrying on tradition whilst missing key parts. In a nutshell, there is no better concert dvd available for any band....you want a visual spectacle? This is THE one. You want to test your new surround sound system? This is your sound check. Simply put, it doesn't get any better than this- nothing even close...it is flawless and was very much worth the wait.

I absolutely love this 2 DVD set. I had seen parts of it on PBS, and was totally taken in by it. The quality is great, sound is wonderful and overall entertaining. It was recorded in 1994, so the members have aged a bit, which makes it that much better. They can still do it, and do it well!

Love Pink floyd. Love this DVD. Some DVD's dont have the music and videos flow well. They tend to break up the flow with talk shows etc. This DVD is perfect!
Watch the concert all the way through. Enjoy the music all the way. If you want to see documentary and behind the scene stuff, it can be done from the menu, not as an interruption to the concert. Highly recommend.

If you like Pink Floyd you will love this DVD, it is a must have for any Pink Floyd fan. 4 hours of concert footage, videos, interviews. I have played this dvd over and over, sometimes I play it just as background, to have on and stuff, a great dvd for any rock lover

In my younger days, I was aware of Pink Floyd, thought they were OK and that was it. After picking up the Pulse DVD, I am a 55 year old male PF Groupie !!!
Some of us are a little slow to see the light sometimes. But these guys are FANTASTIC. The album flashes often to instrumental riffs in the making and that just gets us musicians off! And music I used to asssume as highly complex, I now see as extremely simple (no offense intended). Maybe it's just because they just make it look SO EASY! But I picked up the guitar and recently fiddled abit, and was quite happy with myself! Even I can play a reasonable facsimile to many numbers. I will cherish this DVD till I die!

Amazing DVD of a band I've followed for years. This DVD is almost as good as being there! I would strongly recommend this DVD to anyone who hasn't been to a Pink Floyd concert!

This is the best live concert that I've ever seen. The quality on this DVD is excellent. If you have a surround sound system, it will almost be like your at the live concert. The light show is the best I've ever seen. I've had this on tape for several years but the DVD is even better. If you love or even just like Pink Floyd the you will really enjoy this DVD.

This is now the best concert DVD I have in my collection! Sound is awesome, the video shoot of this concert is outstanding, and the performance is right on the money. A must have for your collection.

It's incredible that we had to wait over 10 years to have this DVD on the market, I had purchased the VHS back on 1995 and then I got a copy on a DVD from an independent editor, but now this version with the bootlegs, the intro and all extras it's a MUST HAVE if you consider your self as a Pink Floyd fan, I really recommend this DVD even if you are not a PF fan since it is the best concert production ever!!!!

I love this DVD! The reason I decided to buy it on Ebay from this individual seller is because it was brand new, and it wa cheaper than buying it in the store. Plus, I just love to shop on Ebay! Pink Floyd is one of my all time favorite bands, and as soon as I got this DVD, I watched both disc immediately. The DVD case was wrapped up, and in ment condition. You can't beat something that is brand new, amazing, and cheap. That is why I bought this item. :)

I actually became a Pink Floyd fan rather late in life. I recognized their talent on "Dark Side of the Moon" of course, but needed a bit longer to get hooked. As I never saw them perform live, I figured this would be the next best thing. MAN! Was I right! This is best appreciated with a big screen TV, and headphones. I'm not sure surround sound does it the same justice. The sound is incredible, and the visual impact is amazing. I was a bit disappointed that some of the camera angles don't show how some effects were done, but that's a minor complaint. I personally have no complaints with the quality of the video or audio, though I'm sure some might. It's a great way to see a favorite band that may never tour again. With the recent passing of Sid Barrett, there is renewed interest in the band. Overall, this will become a favorite around this house and many others. Go ahead, treat yourself.

Why did I buy this? Well, because I like Floyd. And what do I like about it?

The media was in excellent shape and plays perfectly. I really enjoyed cranking up my audio system and watching the band in the comfort of my living room. I've bought a lot of concert videos on EBay. I'm a musician myself and I like to see people playing as well as hear them.

This concert disc really captures the live Pink Floyd Experience! I have been to several Floyd tours over the years and always considered a Pink Floyd show as more of an event, rather than just a concert. The feeling and effects on this disc deliver the experience head-on. The first disc covers most of the post-Waters stuff with a great stage set-up and fantastic light show. The second disc features a live performance of the classic Dark Side of the Moon album. This alone is worth the price of the set. All of the old Floyd special effects and props are in use with spectacular results. You have to see it to beleive it! I bought the DVD on ebay for a very good price, so if you want a great sight and sound event in your own home, order one on ebay and turn down the lights, crank up that surround system, and blast off with one of the greatest live bands ever!

This DVD is better than I expected it from the old VHS version format, the sound and video quality are amazing and it is worth every penny, a real collector's item. Both discs are great. The concert is very much as good as the Delicate Sound of Thunder movie. IS difficult to compare them and decide which one is better since both performances show one of the greatest music bands of all times. If you are thinking of buying it, please do, you will be totay happy with this DVD and I'm sure you will watch it over and over.

I have liked this group for a long time. Because I like Pink Floyd and this was a rear video. This group has done very little in the way of videos and concerts. This is a very good video of some of there most memreable songs and also of a great cocert that they preformed. It is very nice to see that the show was made into a DVD so that we can be able to view it time and time again.

Excellent as always and on DVD...hmm? its the best! Take it from an old hippie chick! The music, the quality and like another reviewer said, its Cheap! Its been a long time comming and now its here!

I have this on Vinyl..VHS..CD..now DVD............This is a must for Pink Floyd Fans....................MASTERPIECE...............

I'm speechless...literally. I have never seen a concert with such a cool light show! Every song has the most cool and unique light orchestration. The songs are performed superbly by each of the musicians. These guys are serious professionals. If only the modern corporate rock group could put on a show like that.

My girlfriend at the time (wife to be) and I, saw the KC show. It was and still is one of the finest concerts I have seen in my life. I really like all of the extras on the DVD, though I could do without the "bootlegging the bootleggers" I can't watch it as the quality is so poor. Although I give it a 5/5 I do this for the content, not the actual capture of the concert, so many times during the video, the stage is completely whited out, and I know that there is was all kinds of great lighting effects going on that aren't captured. But that aside, since I have had this I have played it through at least 10 times.
