Ping G5 Hybrid Fairway Wood Golf Club

I carry a complete set of ping I5's, G5 Driver, and iwedges. I love the clubs. As far as the military goes, I served for over sixteen years, I didn't serve for discounts on clubs or any other items. I served the U.S., nothing more and nothing less.

I purchased the 19* and a 22* G5 Hybrids to replace my 3 and 4 irons. I'm still getting used to the 22*, but the 19* has been fantastic. I get more distance, control, and height on the ball. This was a wise choice and it has improved my golf game.

I swing a club with a moderate tempo and smooth to moderate transition and this head with the NV shaft is excellent. I hit the 22 degree an average of 190 but can jump it to about 200 when needed with good direction. It is a superb layup stick from the teebox but can get it up from tight and roughlike lies equally well. For comparison purposes, my 7 iron distance (a TRUE 7 loftwise, a Tom Wishon model) is about 156. This Ping club has delivered time and again. Now, I'm ready to get a 19 or 17 degree...except that I have a cleveland launcher 4 wood at 17 degree that I equally love. Not sure whether I really need a gap between these.

Ping doesn't support the military. They have shown this by refusing to sell Ping products to over 60 military installations because they gave 10% discounts to active duty and retired military members. This is unacceptable!

This club is just as described. Very forgiving. Much easier to hit that the long irons! Able to hit the long fairway shot without woring about the slice associated with my two iron.

I got one for my dad he's 65 and was having trouble with his long irons. That day he went out in the yard and hit five balls about 180 high and sraight. He's back to shooting low forties with a smile on his face. Not sure about the military but if wars were fought with golf culbs they would have one of these in their bag.

This is a great club to help out with the long fairway shots to the green. Its a must have for golfers who have trouble hitting their long irons. I reall like the way the ball explodes of the face.

I have played PING clubs for over 15 years now. I hit some demo G 5's first and loved them. The G 5 hybrid comes out of the rough easily and from the fairway puts my long irons to shame. I have the 16 and 22 degree. The distance plays like a 3-4 and 4-5 iron, but so much easier to hit. I pulled my 2 and 3 iron and won't go back.

As far as the Military goes, I am sorry smallcomputers has a problem with a company that wants to keep their products competitive and their retailers at the same level & in business. PING are made in the USA and he should appreciate that. PING supports the Military. They just had a program that ended 9/1/2007. It offered rebates to the Military for purchases from 10/1/2006 thru 9/1/2007. Checkout http://www.ping.com/military_rebate.html. This both supports the Military and PING retailers. The irons alone had a rebate of $10 each. That is better than his 10% discount.

Additionally, if you ever have a problem, PING's customer service is fantastic and goes way beyond what you would expect.

I encourage you to go and hit some demo clubs and if you can't afford the new retail price, buy some used PINGS on eBay.

What does a military base not getting a discount have to do with club performance? A shame that the review rating has been knocked down a few points by some pointless, irrelevant commentary.

I'm actually bidding on a G5 19* hybrid club right now. I've demo-ed the 22* a few times and it's fantastic - I knew I had to have one (or two). Definitely lessens the negative impact of a slightly open club face. I feel like it could take 2-3 strokes off my game immediately. I'm a 37-year old beginner golfer (about 3 years) who's worked hard to get down to a 16. Those long iron shots often give me fits, and I just feel a lot more confident with this Ping in my hand instead of a 4-iron or a 3-iron.

If I don't win this bid I'll keep going until I get one!

Wanted a NEW Ping G5 grahite hybrid 22 degree and retail price was $170-$200. Snatched this one on a "buy now" for $129 and it arrived in perfect shape. The ball feels solid coming off the face, it's light and easy to swing. Ball flight is very high which is great for soft landing shots. I can hit it in the range of 175-185 easily (I am a 51 year old 12 handicapper), which is perfect for those longer par 3s. It's a little shorter than I expected, but that's the nature of the hybrids.

been looking for a club like this and found it on ebay, price was very reasonable and the the mail service was great.

This is my go to club on tight driving holes. Very forgiving and long. Works well for the low or high handicap golfer. I have hit most of the other brands and prefer this club hands down. I sold my almost new Taylormades because they just felt dead and I had a hard time controlling trajectory and therefore distance. The Pings just launch and bore through the wind. Highly Recommended. The only downside is they are not the least expensive hybrid out there.

He sells superb quality clubs! the ratings he gives like fair or good are pretty much Brand New Condition! I could not find a scratch on either 16 or 22 degree clubs. He is a very professional ebayer and will go out of his way to help you. I will buy from him again 120% sure If your looking for good quality items look no more this guy is the stuff! Plus the high dollar shafts in the Hybrids feel great!

This club does what it says, easy to hit from any lie (incl. fairway sand) flys high and lands soft. find if I try to over power it I slice it, but so far not bad enough to not have a next shot, have a full set of pings and this is a good addition, am now looking for a 25 degree

We all have benefited from the advent of hybrids. The Ping G5 differs from the Ping Rapture. The G5 Aldila NV shaft is a little softer tipped than the Aldila Proto that they use in the Ping Rapture. I have had both and went back to the G5's because the Raptures were a little flatter and so I hit them to the right a lot, whereas the G5 appears to set up a little a little more upright. But, you have to be careful with the G5 Aldila NV shaft because if you try to muscle one, it will go wild.

I actually liked the design of the Rapture better, and the shaft clearly is much better for a stronger player, but the flatness and the fact that they start at 18 degrees instead of 15 degrees did not work for me. The G5's on the other hand start with a 16 degree club.
