About the Manufacturer
Engineer and inventor Karsten Solheim got his start as an engineer working for GE in Ithaca, New York. His passion for the game set him on a journey to create a better putter. At the time he thought he was simply building it for his own personal use, but in 1959, Karsten’s ongoing garage experiments yielded an innovative putter he called 1A design. This putter had very distinctive design qualities, among them, a unique tone at impact, a sound that would echo throughout the game for generations to come…“Ping.” The Anser putter began a long and proud history of truly innovative equipment design throughout Ping’s entire product line (ultimately resulting in over 400 patents) that has set Ping at the top of the list of golf design and manufacturing companies. The company is headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona. Karsten Solheim has passed away and his son John has taken the helm.

Finally dialed in with my i10's!

I've been playing a set of Callaway X-Tour forged irons for the past year, and have struggled to get consistent results out of them. I'm a 7 handicap, but I don't strike the ball in the center of the face often enough to produce predictable results. In the process of searching for the perfect set, I hit the Cleveland CG4 Tour, Ping S59 and S58 and the new Titleist AP1 (great set also). Finally, I figured I would give the Ping i10's a shot since I previously played the Ping ISI-nickels for 5 years and hit them well, and these seemed to be an upgrade to those. The difference being that my swing has changed significantly over that period of time, and there was a bit too much offset in the ISIs for my new swing. I had trouble working the ball and hitting my bread-n-butter shots. The i10 has less offset making it much more workable, but it's still a very forgiving iron. In fact, my misses are straight as a string, which I can live with. And to top it all off, the i10's have a much more attractive player's profile than any of the others I tried or played in the past. I've only played them for 1 week, but was -1 through the par 3's on a course that I usually expect to play them +1 or +2 (plus, it was a windy day). Definitely the most immediate results I've had out of any club change.

By the way, if the AP1 irons had more of a player's profile (more like the AP2's), I might have given them more of a serious look. Tough decision between those and the i10's. It really came down to sticking with what I know worked for me previously. These are definitely great clubs for anyone 12 hc and under who isn't the best ball striker.

Ping & Mizuno - best golf irons out there
    Review created: 04/26/09

I have to admit, I love the feel of a forged iron, and Mizuno is the way to go for that, but if you're gonna go with a cast iron, I strongly suggest you get fitted for the Ping I10 irons. Black dot is not the standard lie is as say a Taylormade Iron, in fact, it's about .75 degrees flat. I found out after countless web fittings and Ping reps, that I was a green dot. I've played my first 2 rounds with them and I have to say, my ball striking has improved by at least 20%. How important is that? If you're facing a par 3 over water, it's the difference between having the heel or toe of the club grab ground before the ball and sending you Titleist Pro V1 into the drink, or flushing it pure, even a little bit thin
(admit it, we all look up.) and being on or around the dance floor. These cast irons have a nice forged feel to them, and the more you hit them flush, the more addicted to your game you're gonna get. These irons beat out Taylormades, Callaways, Clevelands, Nike, Wilson, & Adams. Believe me...... I've owned and tried them all. Do yourself a favor, if you like the look of a smaller club head, but need the forgiveness of a game improvement club. It's I10's hands down.
