Ping Zings are the BEST engineered of the Ping irons. Better than Eye2, Zing2, ISI, etc. . Very forgiving. Straight. Long even with mishits.
Two problems with Zings though:
1. The odd shape of the exuberant toe weighting. Difficult on the eyes, so did not sell well during introduction in 1992. BUT who REALLY cares. Discontinued in 1994, though could still be purchased as a whole set from Ping thru 1999.
2. Zings, because of the heavy toe weighting, tended to fracture graphite shafts. Ping got tired of replacing graphite shafts. Steel shafts: no problem.
Don't believe me? Call Ping @ 800-424-6434. They'll tell you the same.
One caveat with Zings though. They have a memory. If you have the lie angle of black dots changed, for example, to blue dots, the memory will eventually rectify them back to black. Better to get Zings that are properly dot coded to you, and that have not been previously dot (lie angle) changed.
No reason to fiddle, Zings are all you'll ever need.
