Ping S59 Iron set Golf Club

You are the right person for these if you are a solid ball striker. If you don't want to pay a fortune for a new set, these are the best bargain on Ebay. The S59's are the most solid feeling irons I've hit.

These clubs can be great for you if you buy the right ones fit for you. Ping helps to make this easier, especially for you folks buying on Ebay, and not in a store. I did the static fit on Ping.com and previously had a local professional fit me dynamically. Because of this, I found the perfect match for me and I'm not afraid to buy them online. The website even tells you which shaft to go with if you know how far you typically hit your 6 iron. I found that by working on tempo and not trying to kill the ball, I am able to gain considerable distance and accuracy over my old irons (Titleist DCI 990) just by using these clubs and slowing it down a bit.

When you buy the proper length and lie, you will be amazed at how much better you strike the ball.

My point is this; get a solid fitting in before you buy any irons. They might be a good deal, but there is a reason Ping fits you to the club.

About the Ping irons. These irons play well. I found it easy to shape shots from right to left. It was a bit more difficult left to right, but I've never been able to do that well anyhow. Because I was able to let the club hit the ball and control my tempo better, the ball flight is consistent and the carry is, too. My accuracy has increased dramatically, as well. Especially from the 8 iron down to the pitching wedge. The shot trajectory is much higher and softer landing with these and I don't get a lot of roll. Again, especially from the 8 iron down.

I attribute a lot of the improvements to the change in my tempo, but I give the Pings the credit for helping me change the tempo of my swing and really feel what I am doing with the shot more than that of other irons I have hit. Mishits are not so bad either. You really have to shank the ball or leave the clubface open to mess a shot up with these.

Expect to pay more for the various graphite shafts. The Ping custom WRX clubs are usually more as well. If you find a set of Pingss with a matching sand wedge, jump on them because the sand wedges are hard to find individually.

A lot of times, the owners name has been applied to the club. I found you can get this off easily with acetone and light sandpaper if it is screened in and not etched. You might ask the seller when this is listed this way.

In addition, if you are not very good at the long irons (2,3, and 4) you may want to look at the G5 hybrids. I have them too. If you hit the ball hard, but typically slice or hook, the hybrids dramatically reduce the mishit effect.

Be careful when bidding. There are some demo clubs floating around out there. Check with the seller for serial numbers as all Ping consumer clubs have them. Pay attention to feedback scores. This is Ebay's barometer of service. I swear by the feedback system.

The S-59 irons are a very traditional blade like set-up, have very little offset and align easily with bottom groove being painted white. This is in my opinion, the best looking iron Ping has made and instill confidance at address.
The Tour Flighted Rifle shafts are, of course, a steppless shaft which is very appealing as well.
The irons with the Flighted shafts have a very preditable trajectory, not to high (balloning), nor to low. They are not the easiest shafts to work the ball with from R to L, or L to R for me however. I don't consider this a fault however, as the weather and practise time limits my ability to swing well right now. The shafts, 5.0, do release well, and have a good deal of feel but not harsh as some step type shafts. These are very forgiving irons, though you can tell when hit towards toe. The narrow sole will require good ball striking, if not, they will play as a true blade with less than desireable results.
I would recommend these irons and shafts for anyone who is a decent player, as you will be able to improve using them as your ability increases. The Rifle shafts will also prolong joint wellness, as they have good dampening without sacrificing feel.

This is a marvelous set of clubs. I currently own a set of Mizuno MP-32 irons with rifle 5.5 shafts. I bought this set of S59s with the Z65 and Cushin insert after trying a couple from my friend's bag one day. Even though my MP-32s are the most attractive-looking club on the market (in my opinion), I think the Pings are a little more forgiving & softer to hit due to the Cushin insert. Even though they are a blade-style iron, they don't feel like it when you hit the ball.

Now, it turned cold here before I could get out on the range & actually work with these irons to find out if I'm missing any feel, but I highly doubt it. My first impression is a top rate iron that will wear a bit longer than my MP-32s because I don't believe the Pings are forged...I think they're cast, so they should be made from harder steel & won't ding & mark up like the Mizunos.

These clubs are for lower to mid handicap golfers. The feel and workability of these clubs is awesome when you hit it well. Fairly forgiving to a blade type of club. Would recommend for anyone looking to improve their game and clubs.

These clubs are very forgiving for players clubs. I love the traditional look at address and they feel great when striking the ball. They are also very long. I usually have Pings bent 2 degrees strong but these clubs cover the distance without any modification. A great set of irons with the trajectory, distance and forgiveness that is exceptional.

Best irons I have ever hit solid feel and great workability for the lower handicap player. much like blade but more forgiving and easier to hit.

I agree with most that rate these irons for the players. I was a 6 handicap with Ping ISI Nickel (also great). I bought new Ping G5's and did not like the feel so I bought a set of Ping S59's on Ebay because I got a great price and they were the right lie and length. Well...I'm a 0 handicap is just a few months. These fly lower and sit on the green nicely. Right to Left (a draw) is easy, straight is ok, and Left to Right is ok. With these irons you really need to work the ball R-L or L-R as these are players clubs and the Pros rarely hit the ball straight; mosty draw or fade and that's how your score goes down. The Ping G5's....straight, straight, and straight which may be good for a 10+ handicap but not if you want to start scoring 72's.

So get the S59's now while the S58's have hit the market. There is only a slight difference. Next year maybe the S58's when they come down to Ebay prices.

took me a while to learn to hit the irons, but now i love them. I have always been a ping fan. I love the way the ball comes off the irons. at first had trouble hitting the clubs, but now i love them.

Ping doesn't support the military. They have shown this by refusing to sell Ping products to over 60 military installations because they gave 10% discounts to active duty and retired military members. This is unacceptable!

What a perfect set of irons. I have played about 5 rounds with them so far and can tell a major difference in my game. They are not for the high handicapper because there is not much forgivness, but when hit solid there is nothing like it.

Very nice looking club. Just make sure you are at the right skill level. This club is not very forgiving on miss hits on the toe. Shots that are not hit correctly will come up way short. Just keep that im mind before you purchase a set.

I got a great deal on a set of Ping S59 irons. Items were described to the tee. No pun intended... You can still find good deals on ebay. I have found that private individuals seem to have better deals that the power sellers for items that I buy, research.

great set of irons for the good ball striker. forgiving on slight mishits, some distance lost on poor hits. great feedback as far as where on the face ball was hit. remember this is a players club, probably not a great choice for the high handicapper unless they're willing to put alot of time in practicing on the range. take the time to get fitted for lie, because buying clubs with the wrong lie for you, is wasted money.

Clubs were cut down and some irons were green dot and some were blue dot. Who ever cut clubs down did a horrible job. Some were cut down 2 inches and some more or less. For example 7iron is longer than 5iron. Nice job!!!!!!!!!!!!

Clubs are great. Like new, saved alot of money. Get good savings on E-BAY. Where else can you get a set of quality clubs that are slightly used for less than half the price. I am trading in my old ping isi-k irons as I have fallen in love with these clubs... Much more forgiving than I thought and much more accurate than my old clubs, great workability, and an excellent deal from this seller; they were spot-on with club evaluation... I am totally a ping enthusiest and love these clubs . They are among the best available , and for the price I picked these up for ,there is no way you can get as good a set as these for three times as much.

I wanted to try the Ping S59 irons. I am a 2 handicap. I wanted to try a different style of club. What I liked about the irons is the penetrating ball flight with the short irons. What I didn't like about the irons is their cast material. I like the forged clubs because I like to adjust lie angles to try different ball flights. I can feel the ball more with soft forged clubs for instant feedback from the shot.

Wanted to try this style clubs but discovered they were not for me. Resold on E-bay. There was nothing wrong with the irons.

I decided to buy these clubs because I wanted to try the small heads again. I have been playing oversize clubs for several years.
I like their look and feel, especially when I put a good swing on them. What I dislike is that the shafts are a little too stiff, but I am sure they will be fine after using them a few more weeks.
