I was looking online for PING RAPTURE clubs when i chanced upon many sellers listing them real cheap. Like $775 for a complete set, driver, woods and all. Upon doing more research and plenty of questioning, i found them to be fakes.
Firstly, if they are selling those Pings at such a low price, regardless of whether they are graphite or steel, something is already amiss. I would like to share what i found out to prevent you guys from being cheated.
Fakes:
Have shafts that say TFC5700
The 9 iron does not have the 3 dots below it.
On the club head, the WTi logo on them are in green. The real ones are silver.
The clubs look all black.
They are made in china on the pretense that they are wholesale selling genuine clubs. Do not assume that since they have serial numbers that they are real.
If in doubt, check out www.pinggolf.com and check the serial numbers.
I'm probably gonna get some G10s for now. Hard to be fooled as they just came out in the market. China prob hasn't made the fakes yet!

Rapture Irons are awesome. The only problem is that there are SEVERAL FAKES sold on eBay and they do nothing about it. Here are a couple of ways to spot a fake. First and foremost ask the seller for the serial number that appears on the hosel of every set of Raptures that Ping manufactures. If he trys to tell you he won't because of some BS excuse, then NO DEAL PERIOD! This number is specific to that set and no other. Once armed with this information call Ping and verify that the serial number is valid. They can tell you the exact set make-up, color code, shaft, flex, length, grip and date they were made. Another less complicated method is to look at the head. Some of the FAKES I've seen have a GREEN Tungsten weight in the toe. This is a dead give-away that they are fake. Ping Raptures are very expensive and good deals on NEW irons are usually not that good. One last thing, if you come across a set of FAKES, turn the jerk in to eBay. Maybe they will start doing something about the crooks that are everywhere on their site or at least stop someone from being taken by some jerk with a computer.....By the way, PING only sells to someone with a legitimate Ping Account!!! I've seen more crap about how a buddy purchased them in an overseas factory at a DEAL. This simple isn't TRUE!!!
The Crooks have also gotten to where they will put a serial number on the clubs. If you call Ping Golf and verify that the number is legitimate, you will find that it may be in their database, however the specs that are tied to that number are different than the specs on the irons being sold. BEWARE!!!

This is the only iron I've ever hit that would make me want to pay a grand to hit. Best feeling club to me and I've tested almost every iron made in the last 10 years. Effortless power. Swing smooth and you barely notice the ball being hit and it literally launches off the clubface. Very Nice!!

Ebay is a monopoly, and unfortunately doesn't police very well fraudulent sellers especially from Indonesia and Thailand. A multi billion dollar company such as EBAy should be able to tell if the merchandise is fraudulent.
I would recommend class action lawsuites to everybody that wants to force EBAy to clean up its act.
Also, check out other auction sites and especially other online websites.... you might get a real product.

bought set ping rapture irons from the golf ball hunter, i checked
serial #s, everything seemed ok. played 5 rounds and 9 iron shaft shattered.
brought to ping dealer, notified me they are fakes. because it was after 45days i hanve no recourse with ebay or paypal, what a joke, this ebayer has 99.9% rating......ebay is a sham

I bought a set of what I thought was PING rapture Irons set of clubs.These are FAKE golf clubs, real Ping have serial numbers, theses do not have serial numbers.I bought theses in the United States and they were shipped from China with no return address, I can not return theses FAKE clubs that I paid 600.00 for because there is no return address.

This is my 4th set of Ping irons and they are the best. They remind me a lot of my old set of Ping Zing 2 irons. This is by far the best set of irons Ping has ever built. I would highly recommend this set to any golfer. I am a 20 handicap and I have played some of my best golf with these irons.
I have been playing these clubs for about a year now. I still agree they are the easiest clubs to hit. Hit them further and straighter than any other set I have ever used. My handicap is now a 16.1.
Buy a set, but make sure you know who you are dealing with as there appear to be a lot of fake sets out there. If the price is to good to be true, they are probably fakes.

...if it is too good to be true...IT IS!!! I bought these clubs believing they were OEM. They were counterfeit clubs...no seial numbers! The e-mail address said the clubs would be coming from Littleton, CO. They came from China!! Be ware of Chinese cons using "cut and paste" original ads to describe a product that they are NOT selling. My Bad!!

These irons are, quite simply, the most forgiving and the longest irons PERIOD. I have played the Mizuno MX900, Callaway Big Bertha 2006, Taylor Made R7, Tour Edge EX3, Nike Slingshot and Mizuno MX25 irons. Believe me when I tell you that none of these irons compares to the length and forgiveness of the Raptures. Mishits still give you fantastic distance and the feel/feedback is outstanding. The only drawback is the high price, but I got a really good deal on EBay. I know there are a lot of fakes being sold on EBay, but if you are vigilant and savvy, you can weed out the fakes and get some good deals. Just use some common sense---if it seems too good to be true, THEN IT IS. DON'T BE A VICTIM. Have the seller print a copy of the list a copy of the factory card telling you the makeup of the set and the serial number. If he is the original owner, then he has this information available. If you can get your hands on an authentic set of Raptures, then you will own one fantastic set of irons that will make you the envy of your foursome on the weekend.

Fake Ping Rapture irons

Ebay Alert- May 2007: There are lots of listings right now that are not authentic. These listings are for Ping, Callaway, Taylormade top of the line products and are listed at Buy it Now for unbelievably low prices. All the listings show the seller to have postive feedback but if you check it closely you will see that the seller has no history of selling golf clubs, this is an indication that the seller ID has been stolen. BEWARE!!!!!!!

I have always wanted a top of the line clubs, especially Pings. The price was to good to be true. I couldn't wait for them to arrive. When the clubs arrived I thought that I would check with Ping and register them in my name. That is when they informed me that they were counterfeit. Managed to get my money back so beware, check with Ping.

Thought they had great launch angle at first but its awfully high.
disappointed that unlike PING's usual standards these were shipped from PING and clearly say heads made in CHINA. Shaft is very very good tho and head hits fine not any shorter than i3's I had before just wish had kept the i3's.... now see that the i3 heads were better feel and performance

I was very disappointed - thinking that the clubs advertised were in fact authentic PING MADE clubs when in fact - once obtained I took them to the PING factory to have a custom grip placed - and I was informed these "were not PING MADE CLUBS but rather "fake" from Japan". For the amount of money put forth this was very frustrating and left me with a distaste for the whole e-bay process.

Always wanted a set of Pings. This seller had them, but I am always leary of scam artists. I paid for them and as soon as I got them, I checked w/ Ping and they determined that they were real. Also, if you take a small magnet and put it in the middle of the face, it won't stick. Magnets won't stick to Titanium, but will to steel fakes! Anyway, the Pings are fantastic and I shot a round 7 strokes lower than normal. Maybe it's the clubs or maybe I just relaxed. I felt that my approach shots were more accurate and that made for closer putting opportunities. It's nicer putting for birdie from 15'-20' than 40'-60'. I no longer aim for the center of the green and hope it gets close... I go right at the pin and "expect" it to stick! Now it does! Great Clubs!

The Rapture Irons are by far the best hitting irons I have ever played in my 30 years of playing Pasture-Pool. Reading the reviews, It sounds like a lot of folks have been taken advantage of. If you want premium clubs, such as the Rapture model from Ping, then go to a pro shop and get fitted for them. Any quality brand like Ping, Callaway, Taylor-Made, etc. needs to be fitted for the person using them in order to get the most out of what the particular brand has to offer. It's one of the oldest laws of capitalism--You get what you pay for! Don't contribute to the Chinese economy, go to your local pro and get the real deal!

Excellent Set of Irons! Very forgiving. Ball comes off the head solid and crisp on each shot. One of the best sets that ping has come out with. Rate them along side the Ping I3. They did their home work on these irons.
