Karsten B60 in steel and MnBronze are winners

The Karsten B60 stainless steel putter is also made as a 50th Anniversary B60 cast in Ping's original manganese bronze (slightly more expensive). I own both. The steel has a little deeper sound, the ball may come off the MnBronze a little hotter. But both are excellent putters. Slightly toe-down designs are very forgiving on mis-hits, and they "heft" comfortably. One does not have to "work" at aligning the club or making the stroke; they "flow" easily.
Ping increased the headweight a little in these putters over previous B60s, and that is in line with the heavier weights being featured by most premium manufacturers today. I think the MnBronze model is 5 grams heavier than its stainless cousin.
Metal directly behind the ball has been removed creating a cavity, and then added to the heel, toe, and flange for a larger MOI. The cavity has an elastomer to produce a pleasant sound/feel and to dampen the vibration frequencies that the scientists have determined the human hands do not like. The casting has produced two metal indentations in the flange exactly the width of a golf ball, and serve as additional alignment aids. I really like them over the smoothness of the flange of the Ping iWi B60 model - and the Karsten is about half the price!
The stainless has a standard Winn grip in a good-looking design and color scheme, whereas the 50th Anniversary grip is a throwback to the Golf Pride rubber grips favored by many pros. For example, this 50th Anniversary grip uses the gold lettering for P I N G, whereas Tiger Woods uses the same "black out" grip on his Scotty Cameron putter. Nice head covers for both models.
I use the stainless steel B60 because of the deeper sound, plus the steel is more resistant to nicks than the manganese bronze. I probably would score identically using either over the course of a year's time. These are "players' putters" with rather compact heads. If you are looking for a giant clubhead to salvage a non-repeating putting stroke, then look elsewhere. But if you like traditions, classics, and no-nonsense putters, then these are excellent choices for very reasonable investments.
