The Pie and Pastry Bible by Rose Levy Beranbaum (1998, Hardcover)

This is a very informative book,, it has all the basic recipes and information needed to make great pie's and pastry's... the recipe style is very user friendly and easy to follow.. and if you are Rose Levy Beranbaum you wont be disappointed,, and if you aren't you will soon become one!!!

I own The Cake Bible by this same author. I hoped the Pie and Pastry Bible might be nearly as good; it is simply great! I recommend this for every serious cook. If you want to impress everyone, this is a book you must own.

I make, sell pies, It's a great reference book and I'm studying it in my spare time to see what I can learn and improve on with my own techniques. I saw the book in B & N for $50. I bought it online for quite a bit less.

The PIE and Pastry Bible

This is a superb bakers reference book. I was given thorough instruction and superb tips and referrals to top of the line chef products, such as Fruit Fresh Michigan Cherries!! The technical information explaining the why and how things are done to the dough was very helpful.
I was a novice baker and now I feel very confident. There are so many different recipes that have been perfected by years of trials. I can't wait to try them all. We had a fabulous double crust fresh blueberry pie last nite. We are gonna have to run a little extra to make up for the sweet treats!!
I think this book will find a prominent position on my counter along with Julia Child, A Bourdain and Joy of Cooking!!

The book is in near new condition, with only a couple of splashes of dirt on it. I am sure it will be well worn after my daily handling!!

I had one and let my mother barrow it. She liked it so much she said I could not have it back. The recipes are not all simple. Some are not hard, but others take many steps. Great for those that enjoy baking and do not just want to put something out quickly.
