Pictures of the Body is a must have book!

I have purchased this book twice, and read it cover to cover twice, with several re-reads of interesting sections. I wrote Mr. Elkins about the section on contrapasto a couple of years ago, and he replied, and we had a little correpondence where I sent him a photocopied book I had made. He was very nice even though I was taking up his time, and wrote me an email with a few hints about how to write an interesting text.
There is a section on the Iseheim altar piece by Grunewald that will transform your thinking about the way images of the body can make you feel through relating directly to your body.
Beside that the text is well written, and the images in the book are interesting, and you will not find an author who compares such disparate elements and still makes sense anywhere else.
Now go out and get a copy!
