Good quality for the price. Output ports are lacking however. Speakers are made well and the sound is fairly crisp for the $130 I spent. The subwoofer is a but underpowered, but I don't know what else to expect for the price.

Thank you for voting. If your vote meets our Pretty good........I know this item was refurbished. But there were more blemishes than normal.
Also a few of the wires connected to the back of the speakers were broken and I had to fix them.

Some form of static interrupts the unit at several points in time. You hear a slight glip. It sounds pretty loud though. The bass is nice.

this is a excellent theater system works great thansk you the the system is pretty easy to use saves time using the usb with a wd storage book rather than using the dvd player although having a choice & having the radio tuner means i dont have the need for a seperate stereo reciever plus it has a mp3 input and i love the ipod docking station & the hdmi input also .again thank you very much

I love the sound it produces, did not know how much I was missing with my old home theater. And the best is the 2.0 USB port which means no more waiting for a DVD to burn.Excellent product for the price.

Some time ago I had the opportunity to do some remodeling work at the Philips research facility and was quite impressed with everything I saw there so, when I wanted a home theater system I checked out Philips first. I also checked out others and found by comparing specs and price that Philips offered the best value for me. Boy, am I glad I did. I have had my Philips system hooked up for a few days now and have found it to be just phenominal! It plays my favorite DVD'S "THE DARK KNIGHT", in unbelivable quality, so says my neighbor who was out walking his dog. It also plays CD's, my I-POD, my Camera, FM Radio and more, all at great quality and distortion free volume (I mean loud). I love it, I can't say enough good things about it. Mere words cannot express my satisfaction.
Purchasing my system on E-Bay made it an even better deal as I was able to buy a really great system at a "VERY ATTRACTIVE!!!" price. Thank You Philips and E-Bay for the pleasure and the fun.

Positives:
1. Color coded system makes setup a breeze
2. Excellent sound quality (The 1st time I turned the system on it was on volume level 7 and it was so loud that I had to turn it down)
3. "Supportive" customer service through Philips
Negatives:
1. The speaker wires that are included are pretty short and it requires you go go out and buy more wires so that they can be placed in the proper places throughout the room (I live in a pretty small apartment and the wires were not near long enough)
2. This system can only be wired through the tv and so you are unable to have surround sound when just watching normal television or cable.
3. After multiple phone calls to Philips and 2 different systems, it was established that there is an "issue" with the remote frequency in this particular model. Anyone using a standard cable/satelite box (with the cable/satelite remote) will have problems with their system turning on. Anytime the cable/satelite box is turned on the system will also turn on, this wouldn't be a huge problem but because the system only works with its own components and not the cable/satelite box you constantly have to turn it off. In my particular case, this also happens when I press the number "0" (the customer service representatives told me that in some cases it is worse and happens with every button, so I am "lucky" that it doesn't happen with every button.) Sadly, there is no way to change the frequency of the remote so you are stuck with the problem forever. Customer service representatives did give me one "solution" to the problem, move your home theater system box away from the cable/satelite box (I was told that it would be best if I could just move the box from the room that my cable box was and that I shouldn't have anymore problems!) We all know that thats not always an option.
I wouldn't recomend this model to anyone I know. As stated above, the sound quality is excellent but unfortunately the negatives highly outweight the positives. By spending a few extra dollars in the beginning you will be saving yourself money, time, and sanity in the long run.
