Philips DVDR3576H (160 GB) DVD Recorder

If you are looking for a subscriptionless DVR this is your unit. The editing features are awesome and picture quality from the digital tuner is crystal clear. Being able to pause live TV is a very nice function. Its easy to dub things from the hard drive to DVD or vis versa. I love mine so much I have bought a second one.

The only reason I didn't give this unit an excellant rating were for a few minor things. The buttons on the remote are small and make it hard to use, especially in the dark watching a movie or TV. I have an issue with the auto program of the digital tuner. It locks up when its gets to channel 135. However you can manually add the digital channels contrary to what the manual states. And for some reason after two months the clock wasn't keeping accurate time but after turning off the auto clock feature the clock is keeping good time again. Another nittpicky thing I've noticed is when I burn a DVD it always adds a "blank" track. It doesn't take away from the record time of the DVD but looks sloppy when displaying the DVD menu.

All and all this is a great recorder for the price and features. It has far greater positive things about it than negative and I highly recommend it.
