Philips 23PF5320 23 in. HDTV-Ready TV

This flat panel TV gives you the excellent picture quality and sound you would expect from Philips. It's beautifully designed for HD signals and DVD viewing (and has lots of neat features, but you can read the specs for those), but if you haven't quite made the full leap there are a few quirks.

Setting up the TV was easy enough, but the RCA cable ins are spaced too close together. If you have Monster cables or any of the higher end cables (and you know you will!) the grips near the plug ends are just a tad bit too big to fit in the alignment on the side and under panel. You can get them all in there (I have a cable box, vcr, and two dvd players connected), but it takes some doing.

The set is temperamental to static electricty. The power may need to be reset, which is easily done, but a pain.

Watching non-widescreen programs takes some getting used to. Just like you have in letterbox, you have black stripes on either side of the picture when you are in the 4:3 mode. It just "feels" weird, but you do get used to it.

Analog TV signals don't look as good as they might on your regular TV set, but then you don't buy a TV like this to watch reruns of Good Times (ok, you might, but...).

So, while the set does have some quirks and surely isn't a good fit for everyone's needs, it does provide an amazing widescreen DVD experience for a small room. Snuggle up in your bedroom with lights out and the volume up and you have your own home movie theater at a very reasonable price.

Prompt service---good quality and price on television. So far, am pleased with the set. Have read reviews concerning the smallness of the remote and it is small, however, once one gets used to it, it works okay.

I own and have had 0 problems with 4 Philips TV's, so this was a natural choice. My grand nephew needed a up-grade to go with his Wi and this unit fit the bill. Excelent picture, excelent sound, perfect size for his room. I am very satisified with this product.

The LCD provides great flexibility and viewing. Purchased for use as a computer monitor, it has a small footprint, requiring only a small amount of desktop real estate, while providing me a broad look at the graphic and spreadsheets developed in my business. It's attractive appearance draws comments from almost all who see it for the first time and it's picture quality does a top notch job of accomplishing my business goals. Underneath all is the television so in the event of a local emergency, it is possible to tune in local news for the benefit of the entire office team.

The marketing of the Philips products on e-bay provided a very affordable and practical solution for a somewhat unusual business solution for me.

Previous owner kept it in excellent condition giving someone like me the opportunity to own a near-mint, great looking HDTV at a reasonable price.

The size, color and quality of the tv is exactly what I was looking for. Television is a later model. No longer available in the stores. So was grateful to be able to find it on ebay.

Bought this television for a lesser (hate to use cheaper) price than offered in retail stores. The TV was received in lightening speed from the seller. Connecting the set was easy as 1-2-3 and within 30 minutes we had the set on and watching our favorite program and enjoying the viewing. This set replaced a 19" CRT television and the viewing is so much more enjoyable. And it allowed me to donate my older set, which was perfect, to a nursing home for their viewing and enjoyment.

Great tv, exactly as advertised. $300 is a awesome deal for a tv of this size and quality. the sound and picture is amazing! even the shipping was cheap and fast. overall a great product and seller.

I bought this model because I had budget constraint. So in the given budget this was the best solution. The TV is excellent in looks and style. Its sound is reasonable for a medium sized room. The picture quality is sharp and crisp. The picture is bright, but when room windows are open in the day, the picture is still good to see but then its not as "glowing" as one might expect to see in the LCD displays in the open public areas in the daytime. Having said that I must haste to say that its not at all a bad LCD TV. Infact its very good and impressive and have all the features that I looked for. It has the PAL signal tuner also so its a multi system TV. It has all the input connections that I needed to connect my DVD and laptop with it. The picture viewing angle is stated as I think 178 degrees as per book but the picture contrast looks low when I have to see the TV from the kitchen side. The one thing that I did not like about it is the remote control. It is small and not rugged. The keypad is small on the fingers and key information printed on the remote control /keys is really small letters but I guess one gets used to it. I bought it for $399 inculding shipment and taxes in October 2007 and no other brand in that size could match that price. So overall its an excellent deal. The minor issues that I mentioned would never be visible to other people and these are so small that would never let you give up this TV.

My sister, who resides in a small town of east Texas, called and requested I loan her some money with which she could replace her tv, which had "gone bad". Knowing she has extremely limited rescources, I decided to search Ebay and see what kind of a deal I might obtain. It didn't take long before I had located a brand new, in-the-crate (warranteed) Phillips 23" HD model, at a very, very reasonable price under the "Buy It Now" provision. Concerned about how to get it shipped to my sister, I quickly found my answer on the Paypal web site. Shortly after paying for the tv, via Paypal, I was provided a Tracking Number with UPS. It took only a week (I ordered it during a weekend) for it to be delivered to my sister's doorstep! She was as excited as I've ever seen her and, at the same time, I felt really good about my act of kindness toward her! I had absolutely NO problem in completing the entire process! I would recommend Ebay to anyone who might be in search of just about any product, assuming he/she desired it in a timely, safe, and efficient manner!

not what i ordered. is not HDTV. you well have to get tuner box. old type. it wasn't new but a refurb. int that good a deal, when you have buy a tuner box.

Dislike the fact that while Paypal is an affiliate of e-bay, I am unable to directly access paypal from my ebay account. I've stopped shopping with e-bay because the process is inequitable for those of us military members who are deployed to a war zone and do not have any way to confirm the overseas address we're deployed to. Love this TV. It is the perfect size for our bedroom and the picture is very good. Even without HD through our cable provider, we often pick up HD channels.
