This was a very touching story and during a time when Aids was rarely talked about. In this movie a lawyer has aids and the firm fires him. He takes them to court looking for a lawyer to help him with his case as he is researching most of the information himself. A very well written script and plot.

This is such a good movie Tom Hanks who plays the lawyer who contracted AIDS & his partner, Antonio Bandaris...how he went from being promoted in this huge law firm.. to being outcasted & fired due to his illness.. He went against the law firm who fired him in court..
This movie is excellent!!

This movie is eye-opening on so many levels. It gives you a glimpse into gay lifestyles, eliminates a few of the myths about HIV/AIDS, and reveals discrimination based on sexual orientation and disability. I think everyone needs to see it at least once.

If you haven't seen this film, you really are missing something fantastic. The way this film tackles the issue of AIDS head on is brilliant and the cast is simply superb and really help bring the film to life! However, perhaps the most brilliant aspect of this film is that, although it is advertised as a film about AIDS (which of course, it is) it is as much about the attitudes of society towards homosexuality as it is about AIDS. The clever bit is that the films producers clearly understood modern attitudes and were aware that a groundbreaking film about AIDS would get far higher viewing figures than a film about homosexuality. However, by the time you realise that the film is not just about AIDS, you are hooked and only the most devout homophobe would not be touched and have their eyes opened to the prejudice that still surrounds us today. An excellent film with OUTSTANDING performaces by the cast! This film pulls you in Hook, Line, & Sinker!! A MUST OWN For EVERY COLLECTION!!

I saw the movie on TV and decided to buy it to keep in the library. It is one of those kind of movies that you can watch many times. Tom Hanks and Washington both excellent actors. It is about an attorney that has aids and is constantly challenged with the fact. Tom Hanks pays this part. He is discrimanated against at his job..he never gives up the fight for his rights.
The message is profound about judgement and discrimnation.

What a great movie, Denzel and Tom show great diversity as actors in each of their roles. One of the most upfront and honest approaches in the main stream film industry about a topic that is so taboo especially when the film came out. It shows great insight into the AIDS epidemic and those who are effected by the unfortunate losses there in! Must see film, highly recommend it to anyone!

I am collecting all The Tom Hanks and Denzel Washington movie's and this is one of the movie's I needed. The movie is Excellent!

Two of my favorite actors in one movie, what more could you ask for. Tom Hanks and Denzel Washington were both fantastic in this movie. Even Antonio Banderas, whom I don't think is much of an actor, was good in this movie. It shows how something people don't understand can scare them and bring out their prejudice and bigotry. This is one of the all time classic movies and I would highly recommend it.

The use of Opera in perfect sense..... tom hanks was exceptionally brilliant in this movie. My heart was full of sorrow when I watched the movie for the first time.

I'm a high school teacher and I use this movie in my classroom to address stereotypes and HIV awareness. I bought this becasue I was tired of having to continue to "check it out" from our library staff each semester. It drives me crazy to find a great purchase price but have to spend more on s/h than the movie cost itself but it's worth having my own copy.

I liked the way the story presented the young man with Aids, the attorney prejudice and leary at first, then succombing to the facts of the young man case, agreeing to represent him and finally becoming a friend. Tom Hanks, Denzel Washington and Anthony Banderas were excellent portraying their parts. Just a real good movie and a tear jerker. Friends recommended it.
