Philosophers more learned than wise, hunt science down in butterflies. If you are into lepidopterans, and even if you are not, Pheromone Biolchemistry is a milestone in human understanding of chemosensory perception. At least half of the cunnundrums associated with pheromone perception are here presented in good order. Generations of electrophysiologists worked many careers to build the knowledge found in this book. Lapses include the omission of significant information concerning the biochemistry of the production of pheromones themselves, and more modern investigations shed more light on pheromone binding protein production, stereochemistry, and function. Human pheromones were missed entirely, of course.
