Phenomenon (DVD, 1997)

This movie was a good movie. Even though I am never one to watch movies based on magic powers, this one was a great one to watch. I knew it had to be good to have John Travolta starring in it.

George Malley (Travolta) plays a country boy with telekinetic powers after being hit by something shooting from the sky. George tries to help out people thinking he's doing good for the town. The town folk is not so sure and soon becomes afraid. He soon discovers its a large growing brain tumor thats giving him this ability.

I would recommend this movie for older children and adults.

This is a little gem, with a terrific cast. John Travolta plays an "average Joe" (George) transformed into a genius by a flash of white light. Kyra Sedgwick is a reclusive, fragile divorcee who he loves from afar. Robert Duvall is his father figure and Forrest Whitaker is his long-time friend.

How does George handle the change? How does everyone else? The guy in my life thinks Phenomenon is a bit of a chick flick, but the movie's tone is more consistent with Travolta's blue collar character - gentle, but not a sissy.

The movie's pace is tight and the characters and dialogue are down to earth and believable. Travolta's acting versatility shines through once again - his character is miles from the one he played in Face Off.

Excellent movie with excellent plot and stars! John Travolta plays a man who is struck by lightning? Abducted by a UFO? However you view it, he has an epiphany. He becomes smart, literally, overnight (I won't say any more, don't want to ruin it). Superb supporting cast, including Oscar winner Forrest Whitaker (a personal favorite of mine). Get the kleenex ready!

It shows us the importance of not pre judging people. How kindess is not alwasy accepted well but when you REALLY get to know someone, you will be loved ofr who you are. If shows the power of love and how LOVE can get you through any situation.

This movie makes you think and it really touches your emotions.

I love this movie - its my favorite all-time romantic movie (I'm 51). The scene where Kyra Sedgwick gives John Travolta a shave and a haircut is the most beautiful, sexiest scene, without ANY sex in it, of all time! this movie is very difficult to find in video stores, but I was lucky enough to find it here, brand new, sealed in the package and I'll treasure it forever!

I WOULD HIGH RECOMMEND THIS INSPIRATIONAL MOVIE TO ANYONE, WHO APPRECAITE FREEDOM. I GOT TO ADMIT THE TALE OF THIS STORY WAS INCREDIBLE. IT GIVE ME A DEEP THOUGHT ON HOW AND WHAT WE DO IN LIFE CAN CHANGE IN AN INSTANT. LIFE HAS ITS FUN YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN DAY TO DAY. THERE ARE SO MANY TWIST AND TURNS. I AM GREATFUL WHAT I HAVE. WE ARE PUT ON EARTH FOR SUCH A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME. WE GOT TO USE EVERY DAY, MINUTES AND SECONDS TO THE MAX.

Touching story about love/frendship and a beautiful insight into what makes a relationship work by Robert Duval. John Travolta gives another excellent performance.

Phenomenon is an excellent film. It takes place in a small. Something happens
to John and he can suddenly do remarlable things, such as learning to speak
Portugeses in twenty minutes. The towns people make things difficult for John.
This a movie everyone can enjoy.

There are only few movies I love to watch over and again and this is one of them. I just fell in love with John Travolta's character and looking at John is always a pleasant experience in its self. The movie is sweet and romantic and with a touch of science fiction. I think women would prefer this movie over men. I highly recommend it.

I've always loved this movie! The actors, the music (I bought the soundtrack too), the story, it's all wonderful! Not to mention that I think this is one of John Travolta's best films.

I did not get this DVD until 2 weeks after I bought it. I am trying to replace all of my VHS to DVD.

seen before and love this movie. the casting is great but i like all the actors in this movie and this the plot is great too. great for my collection of dvds.

I really like John Travolta in this movie, and as an added bonus, Robert Duvall AND Forest Whittaker. Keeps you interested, makes you think, ponder "what if?" .....

I watched the movie once before and decided I wanted to add it to my collection. It's a movie I don't mind watching again.

Phenomenon is a great movie and a beautiful love story that is hard to find in stores. It was available here at a really great price. The stores would have been more expensive with a long wait, and maybe even completely unavailable. Here, I got it in less then a week at a very low price.

Fantastic movie, Travola did a great job in his role. Movies like this are not made all the time. I recommend this to any one wanting to see a good story about life, love and how people can effect others even when they are gone.

It would be nice if what U order & pay four was sent when U recieved payment.I ordered the movie 9/12/08 and still haven't recieved it.
