The Pflueger Trion 1990 is a perfect starter reel for the newbie getting into fly fishing heavier 20-40lb fish. I used this reel for several years and it has held up with no issues. I have caught several browns, steelies, stripers and trout on this reel. The only drawback is that it's not made in USA but it I like to judge it by it's performance. For the price, it performs well and at an affordable price.
I highly recommend it for a the avid fly fisher as a backup reel or to the enthusiast getting started.
