I have listened to Pet Sound many times and try as I may to figure out why this is considered to be one of rock's top records continues to escape me. At its core, it is a Brian Wilson solo record with the rest of the Beach Boys relegated to singing harmony and studio musicians laying down the instruments. Solid song writing, nice melodies and the usual great (if not typical) Beach Boys harmonies. At the time of its release, Pet Sounds was considered a recording achievement until the Beatles released Sgt Pepper which took all bets off the table. Don't get me wrong, this is a very good album, but one of the best rock records of all time? I don't know... I'll need to keep listening I guess. ** BnB Beatles Depot **

I am big fan of Beach boys. It is the epitomy of 60s Rock. Its a collector. Any fan of the Beach boys should have this album. Knowing that the Beattles felt this album at the time it was created was a new sound and was going to be hard to beat they must do something more!

Pet Sounds is a classic album. I bought this as a replacement in my collection of the same CD I had lost/misplaced. I wanted to add it to select albums on my MP3 player. When I return to listen to Pet Sounds I discover innovations that I hadn't noticed before. The music is complex, lush at times, and heartfelt. For me it leads into his more recent album Imagination which is in some ways an evolution and return to the spirit of Pet Sounds--lighthearted in parts, and heartfelt in ode to Carl.

Not only did I get the cd I ordered, but I got an extra cd with it as well as a poster for something else. All this for half the price of an actual cd? Sweet deal, I'd say. Thanks.

I bought this CD because the one I had cracked and I wanted to own it still but find it cheap, which I did on half.com. This is an excellent CD, and was sent to me in great condition. Also, it is a different version than the one that I had, so the new tracks I got to listen to brought a new experience and appreciation for the Beach Boys, which I already had. Great band, ground-breaking CD, a must-have!

  That's Not Me

OK, everybody has an opinon about the Beach Boys and most people have a bad opinion. You can't blame people for laughing at them. The name itself brings to mind pretty boys in speedos frollicking on the beach. But, if you can get past that, and if you can get past the one or two silly songs the oldies station plays, you will discover that they made some fantastic tunes. This is by far their best album and any serious music collector who's not afraid of getting beat up by their friends should own it. 4 Stars.

It is funny how some band will seem So uncool, and everyone makes fun of.Then you find out that your favorite Band Loves these guys.Brian Wilson IS a genius. The Beatles would wait to see what he was doing in the studio, and then they'd have Sir George Martin do it for them.Pet Sounds was what brought All modern rock Music to a higher level. The recording process brought them to Sgt.Peppers.Which brought you Jimi Hendrix. This is Music History at its best.

The ORIGINAL Pet Sounds CD release

I was thrilled to buy this original CD release by The Beach Boys of their seminal "Pet Sounds" album. This was the second time to buy this disc because I traded my first one in on the re-released version years ago. Of course, this original disc had a bonus track on it that NEVER got placement on subsequent re-releases (Pet Sounds has now come out in 4 or more versions). So, I HAD to find this one again, and I did! Perfect condition and my bid won!

Pet Sounds, is one of the few albums that requires dedication to understands. Simply put, its beautiful. Bitter love at its finest. I definately recommend it due to its complexity music wise and deepness lyric wise. Although it was overshadowed by the equally wonderful Revolver(and Sgt Pepper), Pet Sounds is an album not to be missed, just forget that you are listening to the "Beach Boys" and think you are listening to "Pet Sounds". You might just find that, it's one of the best album your ears ever heard.
