Actually made in the mid 1960's
An Ingmar Bergman movie made in 1966, this starts out confusing, gets more confusing, and manages to be highly entertaining in both story and acting, the location and cultural layers added to the cake, tidbits of insight being the icing.
Don't expect some glossy, snazzy, easy to swallow movie. Much of the real content is deeply buried, and may not be caught the first time through, but it is well worth the effort.
