After reading a review of the film, I decided to read Satrapi's novel version before going out to see it on the big screen. It was well worth it - the novel is unique, entertaining, and heartfelt, but also at times blunt about the violence and reality of religious fundamentalism and revolution. It's an interesting mixture of funny and dark. I can't wait to read the sequel.

It's a great book which tells the Iran in child of point of view and different then point of view from an adult, it's a great book to start under Irainian and Iran.

Persepolis by Marjane SatrapiI ordered this book for my daughter's high school freshman Honors English class. The teacher requires about 12 books for the year and I was looking to save some money by shopping in used book stores and online. This book was in good condition and arrived promptly. The hardback book was cheaper than the price of the paperback copy at the bookstore and the bookstore was also sold out of this book. The book itself was very interesting in that it described the fundamentalist islamic change that occurred in Iran through comic strips that made a difficult and complex subject very easy to understand. A colleague suggested my use of Ebay to find this book and I was very pleased with my first transaction and will make others in the future.
