Album Notes
Composer: Jack Nitzsche.
While Mick Jagger never quite cut it as a film actor (NED KELLY anyone?), PERFORMANCE remains a fascinating artifact of dark psychedelia. The superior soundtrack album features early performances by Randy Newman ("Gone Dead Train"), Ry Cooder, Merry Clayton, The Last Poets, and, of course, Mick himself on "Memo From Turner," far superior to his later solo work. Not to forget the original score itself, as composed by L.A. session legend Jack Nitzsche, starting with the title sequence "Performance," an ominous synthesizer drone with S&M whipsaw sounds and "Harry Flowers," an effectively creepy bit of easy listening.
