It's another good, smooth album from the former Del Fuego, now Mr smarty pants: Dr Warren Zanes. Understated and unpretentious, "people that I'm wrong for" revolves around Zanes desire to connect personally with this audience with self deprecating musings about himself. Simple musical "hellos" or reflections of how and who he is at this juncture in his life. The stand outs are the ones he himself made teaser tracks for listeners on his website www.warren-zanes.com, with the title track being a particular favorite of mine but also solid tracks " ella's arms" and "carrying me/carrying you". For fans of Alt country darling Ryan Adams or even Jack White of the White Stripes, Zanes is the earlier class who pushed the envelope by throwing out radio-formula-pop-style. In exchange, making songs in homage of the varied types of music he likes simply because he likes it. This is felt in the country undertones, Beatle-esque nuances with a touch of 70's am radio that pepper his songs on both this album and his 2003 offering " Memory Girls". "People that I'm wrong for" for me gets an excellent rating, any album that has 3 songs that jump out after the first listen deserves it. Great performer, excellent album all around and just in time for summer. Thank Thank Thank you! As Zanes shares the facets of his life, he continually gives his audiences diamonds.
