Just when you're ready to think that the only sound youngsters are interested in is made with two turntables and a microphone, one listen to PEOPLE GET READY will convince you that rock lives. The Mooney Suzuki turn in a disc full of blood, sweat, beers...and a whole lot of testosterone.
These aren't balding, potbellied boys in their forties slavishly recreating a sound of a bygone area (two of the band were in their teens when this disc was recorded). The Mooney Suzuki make garage rock sound alive, radical, and even revolutionary. The performances are wild and confrontational, and the tunes are terrific. Is this the most exciting recording since the MC5 kicked out the jams? You decide.
