Pentax smc DA 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 AL Lens

This is a genuine Pentax lens. I also purchased a genuine Pentax 50-200mm lens from this seller. Both lenses were priced well below camera store prices. Both lenses were N.I.B. and shipping was reasonable. I will look to this seller if I need any additional camera accessories.

I bought this lens out of a desire for a wide angle lens. Before this one all I had were manual lenses which worked for me. The f stop on this lens is so high that you really can't shoot indoors without a flash. But even so this is a good lens for what it does.

The seller is reputable, and I was confident going in. My item showed up very quickly. The item was a Pentax 18-55mm kit lens, listed as new. I have no proof that it was not new, but when I unpacked it and looked at the glass elements, there was a cloudiness. I ran my finger gently over the glass and felt a film or some grime of some sort. I cant imagine how this wouldve happened to a new lens, still in its plastic bag, and inside the box, etc. I doubt smoke couldve gotten in there if it was so well wrapped, should it have been stored in a smoking environment. I cleaned the glass and all seems fine. It hasnt hurt my photos any, and thats what really matters.

All in all my experience was positive. But I will from now on be wary of what condition my items might arrive in. I dont think Ill be doing business with Cameta again.

I bought Pentax D-100 camera body, so needed to buy a lens. This Pentax smc DA 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 AL lens is an ordinary lens for the camera. Its price here in Russia is about USD200 for used items, so I was happy to buy it from the US for about USD50. Unfortunately the seller refused to ship it to Russia and I have to reorder the shipment to my friends in Canada. The shipping cost was USD11 plus CAD16 for the customs, because the seller refused to mark the item as a gift. Nevertheless it was good deal, because I save two thirds of the local price.

This is a good Multipurpose lens. It will function as a wide angle yet also zooms in a little bit. If I had to be limited to one lens for my camera this would probably be it. Good thing I'm not limited to one lens though.
