Pentax Optio A40 12.0 Megapixel

I now have two of these camera's. They take great pictures and are easy to use.
The function button and on screen display are easy to read and use.
The shake control helps eliminate blurry pictures.
There are many different settings and modes that should meet everyone's needs.
The rechargeable battery last a long time and I would recommend getting a 2gb card for the camera so you can take plenty of video and pictures.

I decided to upgrade my camera from the 7MP Pentax Optio M30 to this, the 12MP Optio A40. The 12 Mega Pixels allows for huge prints and AWESOME "crop-ability". I have to say it took a while to get used to the new features on the newer Pentax - but true to their pedigree the camera takes excellent pictures. I have been using it for "Macro" and "Super-Macro" shots and have been getting excellent results.

I have started longer distance shooting and portraits and have been getting great results as well, just takes me a few more shots. However, a "mere" 2GB SD Card allows for 414 images at their maximum resolution and lowest compression rate so taking a few extra shots is not a problem.

I paid a mere $139 with free shipping for this camera brand new, non-refurbished and mint! So I think I got a heckuva deal! Great camera for point and shoot photographers that like to do a little nature and up close photography!

This is a great little camera. I've had it for just a short time, but I just returned from a trip where I took 75 photos--using a number of the camera's features. All the photos were wonderful. I edited only 3 or 4, but that was because of unusual lighting conditions. The photos are sharp, and this with using only the automatic setting (for most photos). I love the size--small, but not so tiny that the controls are hard to handle. This is my sixth digital camera (I still have two--a Panasonic and a Fuji), and I like it the the Pentax the most. Actually, my favorite feature(s) is(are) the person-friendly controls--everything is logically organized, allowing the user to intuitively and quickly find an option on the menu--and also with the external controls. Buy one! The prices now are very attractive.

I've purchased a lot of digital cameras over the years and have been summarily disappointed with each of them. Either the quality wasn't there in the photos, they were too difficult to use or they ate batteries in mere minutes.

I've used this one for about two weeks and love it. The quality of the photos are amazing. Takes about 200 HD photos per gigabyte. 640 movies are also very high quality. High enough that I can do take "green screen" videos. If you're thinking of doing microstock photos this is also an excellent camera for that. You won't be disappointed. Battery lasts for a few hours even when taking video. Ease of use is AAAAA+++++

I only had two main problems with it 1) The door you open to run your usb between camera and computer is very fragile. I look for this to break off soon which is why I have squaretrade. 2) It is easy to insert the battery in backwards. Those are the only two complaints I have concerning this camera after using it steadily over the last two weeks.

Haven't used the camera very much but seems like a very good camera so far.I like the features it has.Very good product.

So far I am very happy with the item. I've yet to take it for a full spin since I am waiting for a memory card. The service was concise, competent and complying.

The 12 mp is what really sold me on this camera. There's hardly any reason to ever zoom into a shot because such a large area is covered. I just crop the section I really wanted.
