Pentax MZ-S QD Film Camera

This camera is great, it is built solid as a rock I am very pleased with it. It is very user friendly.

The Pentax MZ-S represents the pinnacle in 35mm film cameras.

It is the sort of camera that is simple enough for an amateur to learn with, and it is sophisticated enough for a professional photographer. Keep in mind, this camera was not designed with beginners in mind because its original price was about $1300.00. But it is easy to use. Some folks claim that it's a complicated camera; not so unless you want to 'dive' into its very rich set of programmable features.

More importantly, this is a camera that is built to last for many years with its ultra-tough magnesium alloy casing. The only pet peeve among most owners of this camera is the plastic back cover. Why was this made of plastic? Quite illogical for Pentax to do this. However, I have never heard of the back breaking off and even if it did, it was designed to be easily replaceable.

If you are purchasing a MZ-S, ensure that you get the optional BG-10 grip. The BG-10 allows you to use AA batteries; if you use NiMH batteries, you can go through many, many rolls of film before a recharge is necessary.

Lenses available? Tons! The PK mount is very popular and employed by several other brands. But the KAF2 lenses will give you the excellent auto-focus the MZ-S is designed for.

I've used many other brands, including Nikon and Canon and the is really the perfect 35mm film camera.
