I bought this CD, because my old girlfriend and I used to listen to this back in 1997. I saw this on E-bay and I had to get one. This was a great experience on E-bay for me, and I am glad I purchased this CD. It brings back all the memories of 1997, and The seller did a fantastic job...Thanx E-BAY!.

I bought the cd with the understanding that the cd was in like new condition. I of course figured it was possible for the case to be dinged up and I was able to accept that. Unfortunately the cd surface itself had scratches and I was disappointed that this cd should have been advertised at fair condition, good at best. Overall happy to get the cd but just somewhat bummed it wasn't in as great condition as adverstised.

  Breathe - Peace of Mind
Review created: 03/01/08

I bought this cd after seeing a video for Say a Prayer on You Tube. I instantly liked the song and also own the debut album which had the 3 monster powerhouse singles "Hands to Heaven" "How can I Fall" and "Don't Tell me Lies".

I admit to liking this cd as well but for slightly different reasons. The first cd "All that Jazz" was more song oriented and had an eclectic mix of songs from "Jonah" to "Don't Tell me lies" to "Hands to Heaven", several of the songs took a left turn off different roads for me. I enjoyed that but it did make the album a little more disjointed in as far as setting a mood.

I am trying to avoid Rick Astley comparisons but the reality is that Ricks' first 2 albums were pop music grab bags and his 3rd album "Free" showed much more of Rick's "Soul" as it were and you got a lot more bass lines and deeper singing with more pauses in the vocal lines and where i am going with this is that Rick used alot of Choral back up singing or in Breathes case, they used what appears to my ears, several black women singing perhaps a trio of background singers. the beauty of this is that they are consistently used throughout the album which *Ta-da!* adds a much more consistent sound to the album. Which for me lends itself to me playing the album over and over when i get in the mood for it.

I think for me , that is the main difference between the two albums. The first one is a great collection of pop music grab bags and the 2nd is much more directed at bringing David's vocals to the front, going away from the singles market and focusing more on a cohesive album of meaningful songs that are rich in lyrical content and feature more credible arrangements that touch the R&B sound while still keeping the band commerically viable. Which for me felt like leaving the door open for a 3rd album of some even different material still to come. A shame they did not come forward with that.

The word is, David Glasper is making a comeback album. He does have an agent and a MYSPACE page up with sound samples. On the two songs i heard, we hear an older even more mature david. Not quite reaching up for those High end "Don't Tell me Lies" vocals although i don't doubt david could still perform those in concert but his newest material perhaps doesnt call for soaring vocals.

  Breathe Peace of Mind

The final album from Breathe, such a pity. Definitely brings back memories, and has some deeply personal songs.

One of the better bands of the '80's in my opinion.
