There are many reasons I liked this book. It is well informative and complete, relates to the reader, and gives various examples and opinions. The author is straight-forward and is actually very well organized with the information. The only downside to the book was the terminology. There were many medical terms. I suggest having access to a medical dictionary or search engine (internet) if you do not know medical terminology well.
The main emphasis of the book is on treating PCOS correctly and helping those with it live a happy and healthy life. It is very good at breaking down each and every symptom/sign of PCOS and the whole cause and treatment of each symptom/sign. The table of contents include the following:
(NOT COMPLETE WORDING; NUMBERS INDICATE CHAPTERS)
1. Definition and history of PCOS
2. Biology of the female reproductive system
3. Genetics of PCOS
4. When does PCOS start?
5. Diagnostic Testing
6. Getting the care you deserve
7. Hair and skin problems
8. Weight problems (this includes some diets and shows which ones are best for PCOS patients)
9. Insulin problems
10. PCOS and body image
11. Infertility
12. PCOS and pregnancy
13. The Estrogen Link
14. Menopause
15. PCOS' relationship with other medical problems
16. Surviving to Thriving; Taking care of yourself
17. Therapy options
18. PCOS resources
19. Research Directions
I guarantee you will be satisfied with the density of this book and will be amazed at how much you will even learn about your body. I recommend this book to every woman that has PCOS or knows someone who does (so they can be understanding and supportive). Even if you are unsure you have PCOS it is a great fertility book.
