Payback (DVD, 1999)

This is a great film with Mel Gibson, not since his Road Warrior days has he captured the intensity of those earlier roles. And now that he's gone around the bend w/ all that jesus freak crap - he may never make a good film again - or at least an R rated one. A bit of a Reservoir Dogs type feel - I reccomend this film - while no masterpice - it's very entertaining, although kinda falls off at the end.

An excellent Mel Gibson film! Someone wrongs Porter (played by Mel Gibson) and he sets out on a well-planned revenge which very probably falls into the category of "payback 1000-fold". There's not much to mention on the props, costumes, and makeup - pretty much standard quality. The other stars and extras do a fine job but I can't remember anyone who was better or worse than another - this possibly makes it a mark of a good movie. Recommended, but definately not for children. Note that this version of "Payback" is on a North American formatted DVD and was issued in 1999. My reviews are written without any knowledge as to who the potential seller may be.

Mel Gibson leads a fine ensemble cast in a film noire about a criminal, shot by his wife and a co-criminal, who only wants a fair exchange, once he recovers. A great example of how simply listening and cutting losses, rather than assuming a man bent on revenge is insane, would have saved a lot of trouble for the criminal outfit. Brutish and violent, psychotic behavior toward a deserving audience of criminals, this is a film for adults, not for the young or squeamish.

The wrong item was shipped. I contacted the seller numerous times via email to inform him about the problem and have not heard back from him. Payment was sent to him on july 30th 2006. I will not buy from this seller in the future due to the lack of communication and customer service. I would have liked to recieve the item that I actually purchased

This is one of my Favorite Movies of All Time. Although not much of a Box Office Hit I think this is one of Mel Gibson's Top Films. This Movie is Populated with an All Star Cast backed by a well written Script. Also, the way it was filmed gives it the illusion of almost being a Black & White format by utilizing Gray Set Treatments throughout the film, I felt this was a very Creative approach and fitting for the Plot of the Film. The film is filled with Dark Comedy in a Serious Setting from Start to Finish. In My Opinion, this Film is a Must See and has lost none of it's Entertainment Gold although it is now several years old. Enjoy !

Non-stop action.. Mel Gibson as a bad guy has to be seen... by the end you find yourself rooting for him... Loved the film, the music was exceptional... all seemed to work... Enjoyed this much more than the director's cut..

There are times in cinema when the director decides that he knows more than the studio he is contracted to, and often times he could easily be right. In this situation though after watching Payback for the first time as it was originally released and then having the misfortune of purchasing the Director's Cut i instantly discovered that this was an instance in which the director's view was no where near the audience's pulse of satisfaction. In short this version of the movie by far outweighs the quality of the so-called "better" director's cut.

One of the best gritty crime dramas ever made, with a dark sense of humor that is indicative of the Coen Brothers. A must see for the crime enthusiast!

Great movie!!! mel Gibson does a great job with this movie. Excitement begining to the end. this is another one of gibson great movies. Rank up there with the Lethal Weapon movies. As well as Braveheart and the rest.

I purchased this movie for the same reason that I purchase so many other movies on Ebay and other sites. The director cuts or revised versions tend to be a joke. If the directors really wanted to put that version out they should have done so in the first place. Payback, and Blade Runner are just two examples where the directors cut took away so much from the original that it was just wrong to go there. So I purchase these originals as much as possible. Thank You for allowing me to express my opinion.

Mel Gibson Rocks in this movie. Its a classic in your face hardcore action thriller. Mel Gibson plays a serious Bad@$$ in this movie and seeks revenge on everyone. I defidently recomend this to anyone who like a good action movie hands down. Its one of my favorite

I love Mel Gibson movies and I had to have this one. I don't care about his slurs because he was drunk and didn't realize what he was saying. I still love him even though I am Jewish.

i love this movie because i love mel gibson, every movie he's in, he does a great job. the story line is good and the action in the movie is awesome.

I had seen parts of this movie on T.V., but wanted to get the full experience of the original uncensored movie. Mel Gibson plays his character very well and ranks up there as one of his best films. When I had purchased this movie, I initially had the intention to watch it and resell, but after seeing the film, I just had to keep it in my collection. Payback is definately a movie to see.
