Pay It Forward (DVD, 2001)

I saw this movie some years ago and wanted to purchase it so I could show it to my Sunday school class of 7th & 8th grade students in my home. The theme of the movie was as heartwarming as I remembered and just the message I wanted for my students; however, I had forgotten that the movie contains sexual themes and material that aren't appropriate for middle schoolers, in my opinion. So, while I enjoyed this personally, I wouldn't recommend it for kids. And that's too bad, because the sexual content was not absolutely necessary for the plot to work.

This movie is absolutely the best. I love this movie so much I share it with every one. Now I try to Pay it forward! This is a must see movie.

It is a moving story of a young boy who has a mom recovering from alcohol abuse, a father that was abusive. A grandmother that is homeless & starts the pay it forward by helping a robber.

The boys teacher gives the class an assignment to come up with an idea to change the world. He comes up with an idea that we should all help 3 people, they help 3 people & so on.

The cast is unbelievable... Helen Hunt ... Angie Dickenson... the boy from ( "I see dead people"). The story is unforgettable. The actors did a marvelous job.

This is an excellant movie to share with children... especially grade school & teens. The message it sends is clear. Watch it first & decide if it is appropriate for your age child. I got permission from my day care parents to let them all watch it. Then we had a big discussion about it. I had elementary kids before & after school. We live in a rural community. Some things escape our small community... like guns & knives in school, but bullying, death, abuse, single parenting & coping with it, homelessness doesn't.

The whole concept of PAY IT FORWARD is definately a way of life to consider. I have lent this movie out many times. I can't say enough good about it. It really is a must have for your collection of movies.

Bring a box of tissues for this movie! It's heartwarming and profound! If you are not profoundly touch and forever changed by this movie - even minutely - then there is something wrong with you as a human being! I've seen it 7 times and cry each time - I'm not usually an overly emotional person!

This tells a story of a young boy who has an idea that he'll help three people then those three people will help three people which is where the movie gets its name Pay It Forward. This is a great movie, the actors did a wonderful job. I don't want to give away the movie just buy it and you'll see what I'm talking about you'll end up whatching it over and over. I Love this movie. This is a touching story of a young teenagers quest to bring positive into the world through randon acts of kindness. Even though it began as an assignment from his teacher it ended up being his own personal dream. A dream of that kindness would be passed on and on and on, never ending. I recommend this movie to anyone who loves a movie that truly touches the heart. I bought this movie to watch over and over.

I liked this movie much more the first time I saw it, when my child was very young, and my parental "radar" was still a bit less conscious. But when I bought this copy to share with her, I was very glad I pre-viewed it! There's lots of sexy stuff in it (do I REALLY need my 14 year old daughter seeing pole-dancing in a strip club???) and bedroom scenes with unmarried folks. It just doesn't outweigh the positives, to my mind.

The book is a better story (as books always are), but even THAT has LOTS and I mean - LOTS - of sexual stuff, some of it even nastier and more graphic than the movie, so I'd hold off on sharing this with my kids until at least age 16-18.

I think it's a very sad thing that writers seem to believe that gratuitous sex must be incorporated into everything these days in order to "sell" books and movies. Family-oriented choices for good reading and viewing just keep getting fewer and fewer. This story could have been such an excellent as help parents teach their children about giving of themselves to the world and its positive results, but the icky sex stuff just ruins it.

This was ordered as a Christmas gift for a friend. I have seen it and it is a very heart-warming story. I would not recommend this for very young children.

I love this movie I had seen parts of it on tv and I wanted to see it all so I searched ebay for it and long and behold there it was, so I purchased it and it is such a awesome movie I just love it Thanks Ebay

WITH OUT GIVING AWAY THE WHOLE STORY YOU HAVE 3 FINE ACTORS.THE IDEA BEHIND THE TITLE IS A POSSIABLE THING TO DO AND SHOULD BE TRIED MORE OFTEN.FOR PEOPLE IN A.A. IT ALSO GIVES HOPE BY SHOWING A SPONSOR AND PEOPLE WHO CARE.I AM IN A.A. AND IT MADE ME FEEL GOOD-THAT GOOD THINGS COULD HAPPEN.I HAVE SEEN BETTER A,A,PARTS BUT THIS MOVIE HAD IT ALL.A # OF LESSONS WAS IN THE SHOW IF YOU LOOKED AND LISTENED SO HOPEFULLY THEY WON'T GET REPEATED TO OTHERS.IN COMPAIRISON THIS IS A VERY LOVING MOVIE WITH SOME VERY FUNNY PARTS AS WELL AS SEVERAL SAD PARTS.IT IS ONE OF THE BEST I'VE SEEN.

Promotes meaningful values but not meant for youngsters. The "shacking up," bathroom scenes and violence in the home eliminate it for kids. I was going to purchase as grandchild (school age) gifts, but the parents said "no." The movie needs an R rating.

I watched this movie when it first came out and enjoyed it so much I watched it two times. A couple of years later I bought the movie and have watched it two times and recommended it to several friends and co-workers. The dvd is actually on loan to a friend as I write this. The movie was an eye opening experience from a child's view that actually turns us adults around to do the right thing and help our fellow man. ((( the ending was a bit surprising but not so much it ruins the movie ))). I recommend this movie to everyone and hope that they watch it with their children (teens) as I did with mine.

History teacher Eugene Simenot (Spacey) offers the same ongoing extra-credit assignment he has proffered every year: Come up with an idea that will change the world. However, he expects nothing more from his students than halfhearted efforts that fall far shy of their mark. Simenot is therefore unprepared for precocious, irrepressible Trevor McKinney (played with wide-eyed wonder by Osment), who conjures up a stunning scheme. Trevor suggests the concept that every person who benefits from someone else's good deed should "pay it forward," instead of paying it back, and in turn offer favors to three other people. This film has plenty of twists, and is truly a tear-jerker.

This is a feel good kind of movie that makes you think about your own life and what it could be like if everyone had the kind of character to act on these thoughts.

I received my dvds in a very timely fashinon. The quality of the dvd was in great shape and I thak you for you services.

I needed the DVD because I am writing a screenplay and my main character is a lot like the character Helen Hunt plays, flawed but redeemable. I bought it on ebay because I needed it quickly and cheap, and I didn't have to leave the house. It worked, I have it and am happy with my purchase. I needed another movie and also bought it on ebay and have that one, also.

This portrays what could be a real life situation. The boy's grandmother
is an alcoholic living on the street. His parents are alcoholics and
separated. He is chalenged by a school teacher to come up with an
idea that could improve our life and change the world. He does, and it
effects the lives of nearly everyone around him. It also changed me.
I now look for opportunities to Pay It Forward. I give it a great rating.

I Loved this movie. This story teaches us, that all of our actions have affects on others, even if we don't think they do. It also shows us how one souls sacrifice changes the world. Be prepared for the ending, I hope you have a lot of tissues on hand. This movie will bring you to every human emotion.

This makes perfect sense esp. for teens. A guideline for behavior. Even a Romance backup and a final ending directs emotions. Go for it!!! Joe
