Well I just got through with the book I learned alot about Paula I didn't know and would have never thought of knowing or even guessing. I thought this told her story wonderfully and I just love her choice words and the way she makes them clean and funny. Ever woman in America can relate to her life in one way or another. I am very young and I still just love her and would love to meet her one day. I still can relate to her in some ways. I think if you already love Paula Deen then you will enjoy this book. Caution: You will need alot of quiet time because once you read you won't be able to put it down. Best wishes!!!
If you're a fan of Paula, you're gonna love her memoir!! By telling her life story, including many events and tidbits that have never been shared until now, Paula makes it more evident than ever that she's just like every other woman in America. Even though I'm half her age, I still found things about her that I could relate to. She is incredibly successful in many different areas of her life - it's completely admirable. She's like the Energizer bunny, she just keeps goin' and goin' and goin'!!
A great book, couldn't put it down. SHE TELLS IT LIKE IT IS. She makes you laugh & cry at the same time. I like it because she really tells you the truth, no mincing of words in this book.
Bought this book for my Mother. She watches Deen's cooking shows and loves it. She really enjoyed the book. A fast read with some good receipes along the way. It's a keeper>
This is a great book---really enjoy it! Love Paula except when she licks her fingers. :o)) This tells alot about her life. She sure went from rags to riches in a short time. I am happy for her! Great Lady and family!!!
I love Paula Deen. The book is a tell-all by Paula. She shares herself completely in this book. You think you know her from watching her on TV, you don't until you read this book.
I have a lot of admiration for Paula Deen with her "make lemonade when life hands you lemons" attitude. Her book was very interesting and will inspire others not to give up on their dreams.
I bought the book for a gift - so I didn't read it. I did look at it .. it looks wonderful. The Book Review stays on my page, and it won't leave, even though I advised ebay that I did not buy the book to read. I bought the book for a gift.
This book is very interesting. She should have wrote it sooner. She was scared that her fans would hate her. No way. SHe is only human, and we all make mistakes. She is great and she has come a LONG WAY. She has a great husband and two of the best sone that a woman could have. Anf that little grandson is Precious. If you are a Paula Deen fan this book is a must.
PAULA DEEN A MEMOIR BY PAULA DEEN AND SHERRY SUIB COHEN
A BEAUTIFUL BOOK BY THE EFFERVESCENT TELEVISION EPICUREAN. THIS BOOK INCLUDES DELECTABLE RECIPES AND YUMMY PHOTOGRAPHS. PULL UP THE KITCHEN CHAIR, SIT DOWN AND READ ABOUT THE SORROW AND THE SWEETNESS, AND LEARN WHAT MAKES PAULA AND HER RECIPES SUCH A CARD! (C) Nonnie 2008
Loved everything about the book. Heard about it from my sister-in-law who read it & knew I was a big fan of Paula Deen. Decided to buy it rather then borrow or rent it from library.Highly recommend it to everyone that enjoys her and her cooking shows
I bought this book for my sister for Christmas. She loves Paula Deen. My sister loved the book and we got this for a good price on this web site. This was a fast delivery and I had it in time for her Christmas present. Thank you all kindly.
I purchased this item as a gift for Christmas. It was in brand new condition when it arrived and cost much less than buying it at a local book store. I didn't have to waste money on gas shopping around for the best price. I was able to purchase this item new for a great price, and have it delivered to me. I am completely satisfied with this purchase!
I once went to the Lady and Sons restaurant in Savannah and met Paula Deen and her sons. This was back in 2001. Paula came over and sat at the table with me and my wife. As she sat with us, my wife commented to Paula that she had read part of her life story that was touched upon on the back cover of her then current cook book. Paula and my wife shared tears together at the table that day. In Paula's new book, this was very same Paula Deen that I had met on that faithful day at the Lady and Sons restaurant. Paula tells her life story with complete honesty leaving out no details albeit good or bad. This is the Paula Deen everyone in America has grown to love. Paula's story is inspirational to me as a business person. She proves that anything can be accomplished if a person puts their heart, effort and determination in the right place. This book was one of the most enjoyable books about a person's life that I have ever read. It serves as a beacon of hope for all who struggle. Sometimes a sad story can have a very happy fairytale ending. Thanks Paula!
This was a great book. Paula is such the woman that makes you feel like you've been friends forever after just reading a few lines. She tells of how her life began and has become what it is today. If this woman could get to the step she's at now from what she came from, there is hope for many. I love the pictures in the middle and the recipes, YUMMMMMMM!!!! Just a note, there are a few words in here that made me jump a bit when she used them, but you're able to get over that talk as you go along. I would have never known she had that part of her in her, but with the book, you find out alot!!
After reading this book, I see Paula Deen in a whole new light! What a great biography! Uplifting, real, and lots of things in this book I was able to relate to whether directly or indirectly! I bought one for my sister as well! A definite plus for your home library! Highly recommend!
Listen folks...If you or someone you know is becoming an adult or is newly married, please consider Paula Deen as your personal book recipe chef and advisor. Her book~ It Ain't All About Cookin ~ has some very wise eye openers. Dream and seek out what you need to make that dream a reality. She helps you to understand yourself and how she made it on her own. Also for you folks that do not know how to cook, just beginning, or needs new ideas, get yourself some cookbooks from Paula. Very detailed, home type cooking, that anyone can follow. Paula never gave up on herself, and no one else should either.
If I could talk to Paula Deen myself, I would tell her "Thank You." It took courage to tell the truth about her life like she did in this book. I laughed, I cried. She reminds us not to judge one another. It was nice to know she is a REAL person. I am not impressed by celebrities; I wouldn't recognize half of them if they were right next to me. Miss Paula reminds me of my own mamma, and that's why I bought the book and watched her on t.v. to begin with. I have eaten at "The Lady and Sons" and it was definately worth the money and the wait in line. If you are a woman that has ever experienced loss, heartache, struggles, or triumphs, this book is worth your time, in my opinion. I often found it hard to put down. If you are able to put the book down, you can cook up some of the recipes she has included in this book. I felt like I was sitting and listening to a friend talk instead of reading a book. This is one I will be keeping on my shelves.
I loved this book. Paula bares her soul and tells her fans about her REAL life instead of just what people want to hear.
The recipes she adds are just a little extra, not the main focus of the book. Somehow the book makes her feel more down to earth and human rather than just the star that she is. I originally did not think I would be interested in this book but after talking to others decided to give it a try and found that it kept my interest all the way through.
As a fan of Paula Deen's cooking show on the Food Network, I was excited to read her life story and read more about the personal side of this fascinating woman. I was not disappointed by this book. It is a page turner and reads almost like a novel. Her story is honest, funny, sad and inspiring. She tells about the untimely deaths of her parents, her difficult marriage to her son's father, her struggle with agoraphobia and panic attacks and how she overcame it all to start her own successful business and ultimately find the love of her life. Included are family photographs and recipes.
This is a great book. You can tell it's coming from her heart and she is about as down to earth when it comes to cooking as you can get. This is a great book and one that can be handed down to the next generation and I'm sure they will enjoy it also.
I have become a fan of Southern Cuisine and I have enjoyed watching Paula Deen and her sons on TV so I decided to read her book. It was quite eye-opening. A great story of how much a person can overcome and do great things with their lives.
Paula Deen tells her life like it is, the good, bad, & ugly for all to see! It is her straightforward way of laying everything on the line that makes this book a great read! You will be enthralled from the very first page of her story! Try it, you will not want to put it down!
Usually when I read a biography I will read about half, get bored and put it down. Not this one! Paula's story is entertaining and a great read. All of us can find something in her life to relate to our own lives.
I recommend this to all women.
Being from Tenn. I have always made "Hoe Cakes" Use them under good Tenn. Bar-B-Q and you will think you died and gone to heaven!
