Since the days when Paul Rodgers was the lead vocalist in Free, Paul has always been one of the main frontmen in Rock-N-Roll. From Free to Bad Company to The Firm to Solo Work and then Queen, Paul has been known as "The Voice" in Rock-N-Roll. Great performance on this DVD also, just as I expected.

He may be the greatest rock vocalist of all time (and he is!) but this
DVD is extremely average.

The only new song on the DVD is "War Boys" and if this is the best Rodgers can come up with since "Deep Blue" I think it is time for him to rethink what he
is really doing.

The tribute on the DVD cover to the late Boz Burrell is really cheap and cheesy -- they can't even spell his surname correctly!

The Rodgers interview is extremely average and it is quite shocking to see how much he has aged. A hair weave where long flowing locks used to reign, false teeth and a washboard where his throat used to be....

Paul Rodgers - Live in Glasgow (2007, DVD)

Great vintage guitar tones, rock solid timekeeping and wonderfully dynamic arrangements. Did I say Superb Fidelity? It nice in the current era to watch a concert video without constant eratic scene chages and handheld caffeine laced camera work.(seemingly directed by an 18 year old MTV executive).
This isn't meant to appeal to 16 year old girls looking for a D-tuned non melodic pout fest. This is guitar driven blues rock played by pro's that care.
If your a reader of magazines like Vitage Guitar, or Guitar Player, or are a musician yourself you'll get it.
If your idea of great current music is American Idol Female finals week trust me you'll miss the point. This isn't about red carpet outfits or who's on Hollywood Insider.
This isn't about breaking new ground or appealing to to fickle trends. It's about preserving a solid tradition of blues based-music first melodic rock.
Dual Ampeg SVT's, Boutique grade Cornford Guitar Amplifiers and wide open well tuned acoustic drums when played by seasoned pro's offer sublime sonic details for the carefull listener. This is especially true when all the elements are well recorded, and frankly, it's all here in spades. Listen carefully for all the details and you'll be richly rewarded. The complex tonal differences between the two guitar voices is a perfect example.
And speaking of complex detail, listen carefully to the subtleties and inflections in nearly every turn of every phrase Paul Rodgers sings. This is a well documented overview of the lifes work of an important "real" artist.
If your a fan of Free or Bad Company or any well played guitar rock don't wait, jump in the deep end now because this is the Real Deal.
And if, like me you hate everything that's happened to FM radio , this is just what you need and more.

A born talent and he retains the magic. If you enjoy his early years I believe this is a worthy DVD compilation of Paul Rodgers songs from his span of bands. For a rocker he has maintained pride in his music and himself. What a voice!!!!
