If you dont know anything about this man, this is a good place to start, but
just remember..hollywood can sometimes get it close and in this case touches
lightly on what the man was really like! This movie should inspire you to get
up and do the right thing, be a real human and get off your #%@ and get
something done, make something of yourself. His sayings and methods bare
repeating, except for the language which in ths movie is so cleaned up
compared to the real George Patton it would be considered sunday school
material... On the other hand believed a soldiers morality vital to win the battle. This should be required for HS Seniors IMO... This movie should encourage you to research his total biography and learn as much about him as you can.

One of my all time favorite war movies. George C Scott really lets you know the man Patton. Patton was one of kind general, and just what they needed then and I believe now. I love the part were the German who describes Patton as a man who say "never dig in, take the offensive".

Have this movie in VHS and now DVD. One of our all time favorites of one of our all time favorite military men. This movies shows what Patton thought, not only of our fighting men and women, but the wars he was involved in. Sure to be one of your loved movies. George C Scott is fabulous.

A few of my favorite parts are **plot spoiler** (1) just before Patton captures Palermo, he talks about reading the Bible every day, (2) when he captures Palermo, the Germans and Monty react exactly alike, and (3) when Patton beats Monty into Messina and says he shaved particularly close in preparation of getting smacked (kissed on the cheeks) by Monty.
Patton truly is one of the greatest American generals of all time. Regardless of whether you compare them by land captured, enemies engaged, defeated, and/or captured, or victories compared to other generals facing the same opponents.

PattonGeorge C. Scott gives a stunning performance as General Patton and is well deserving of the Oscar Award he received for it. However, in typical fashion, Hollywood twists the historical facts. For example, in the North African campaign, George Patton's units were saved by the late arrival of an entire artillery battalion that stopped the Nazi Panzers and Infantry from advancinng further. Patton's true fame developed after he was called from England to Normandy to spearhead a breakout. I have direct contact with ex-Army soliders (now in their 80's) who served under Patton and almost all admit he could curse with the best of them.
