The premise of the book is that an economic crisis leads in the near future to the entire melt down of civilization. A group of militia minded white collar workers back East have been preparing for some kind of melt down for years, and flee to a pre-prepared refuge in Idaho.

The book goes on to describe the military tactics and strategies the group uses in protecting itself from various kinds of roving thugs including canibals, motorcycle gangs, United Nations Troops, and illegitimate claimants to the government of the usa.

The book is widely believed to be a guide to self sufficiency and survival techniques, but in my opinion it focuses too much on militia matters and not enough on other important things like finding food.

If you are of a survivalist mindset it is well worth reading because the fictional account is used to introduce many topics that are well worth considering.

Regards,
Joseph
