Paul Potts's beautiful performance of "Nessun Dorma" from TURANDOT on the television competition BRITAIN'S GOT TALENT won him both the top prize and the rapt attention of the world through viral video clips. Not only does Potts possess a lovely tenor voice, but it issues forth from as unassuming and down-to-earth a demeanor as have ever graced an opera stage.
While his 2007 debut album focussed on opera, this '09 follow-up veers off into the world of pop/classical crossover. He gussies up classic chart-toppers like "Whiter Shade of Pale" and "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" with Italian lyrics and lush, symphonic arrangements. But he wisely does not turn his back on the style of music that made him famous, as his gorgeous rendition of Puccini's "E lucevan le stelle" attests.
