  Mel Gibson's finest motion picture!
Review created: 09/11/08

The 2004 feature film "The Passion Of The Christ" is by far the best film so far this decade. Filmmaker Mel Gibson decided to step from in front of the camera as an on-screen actor, and go behind to direct. He totally succeeded triumphantly when he decided to make this landmark cinematic achievement. Lead actor Jim Caviezel gives a solid and strong performance as Jesus Christ, the Son of GOD. The story depicts the final 12 hours in Jesus' life on earth. The rest of the cast in this film all performed well together here. This is perhaps the most outstanding variation of the story of Jesus Christ. Every detail is depicted here, including the dialogue actually spoken in Aramaic, Latin and Hebrew throughout the entire film, with English subtitles appearing across the bottom of the screen. It is the most successful non-English speaking movie released within the United States. Upon its initial release, the film would eventually go on to gross more than $600,000,000 in worldwide revenue, making it the most popular and most successful R-rated movie in history. The scenes showing Christ at the scorging post look absolutey authentic, thanks to a great make-up job. The crucifixion sequence almost left me totally speechless. What you have here is excellent filmmaking on a grand scale that no other film of this kind could possibly hope to duplicate. Although the movie recieved 3 Oscar nominations for Best Original Score, Cinematorgaphy and Makeup, it also should have been nominated for Best Actor (Caviezel), Director (Gibson) and Picture. Nonetheless, this is Mel Gibson's finest hour; a classic film that is to treasured forever.

Every time I watch this, it reinforces my faith and the purpose of life. The creation of mankind, missing the mark in Eden and that the perfect life of Jesus balanced that mark and brought us all hope. What that man endured helps to endure any tribulation I may encounter. I find strength for myself when I realize what Jesus endured during his final days and to grasp the concept he did it all. For imperfect, sometimes scandalous, and trecherous humankind sins. Keeps me focused on maintaining a righteous attitude and decent motives and to be kind to others even when others are not kind to me.

The Most Stirring Film on Jesus Ever Made To This Day!
Review created: 03/20/08

It is with tears in my eyes and a contrite heart that I am writing this review. Never have I seen a film like this before. This is not the Hollywood Jesus as portrayed in the 60s and 70s. This is a soul stirring film that will sir your heart. This most possibly the closest ever any film has ever attempted to capture the Passion of Jesus The Christ. From the scourging at the pillar, the nails going through Him, His Last Words to His Resurrection, this film has moved me like no other has.

Icon Pictures presents a film directed and co-written by Mel Gibson. Starring James Caviezel and Monica Bellucci. Rated R for sequences of graphic violence. IF you are are Muslim, a Budhist, a Roman Catholic, or Jewish, or Christian, it doesn't matter. This is an amazing film that put me in tears. The movie is "godly".

5 out of 5

This was the most touching- Most realistic account I have ever seen for any part of the life of Christ. I only wish Mel Gibson would also chronical other parts of the life if Jesus. What a great movie it felt like I was actually there to witness the end of Jesus' life. Great movie but wait til the kids are older to view because like I said it realistic and it's very graphic.

  The passion beyond the cross.

I purchased this tape as a reminder to me of what Christ suffered on my behalf. As a Christian you tend to believe "Thats the reason he came". "He's God incarnate". "It could'nt have been too bad" "Besides, "He knew he would rise from the dead again"! ("This was temporary pain.") But to view it again, I'm reminded that at the time, He was very much human. The Child of Bethlehem..The carpenter..The man. Flesh..That felt every lash, every punch, kick, & insult. He suffered much for the likes of a dog like me. John 3:16 reads: For God so loved the world, that he gave his one & only Son. That whoever would believe in him (the Son) Would not perish, but have eternal life. Folks, We weren't just created for the moment..Or a span of time that our life consist of. The Human soul lives forever. Christ Passion was that his Creation would see the light, accept the truth, change their ways, And find their eternal reward in heaven. The wondrous thing is, He would suffer it all over again. AND, he would go threw it if only for YOU. If your soul was the only prize won, He would do it all over again. The Bible tells us that a Sparrow dosent fall from a tree, that he's not aware of. He knows the number of hairs on your head. For God so LOVED the world.. Thats the motivation behind the passion. And oh what Christ went threw to prove that love to you. I will be effected every time I watch it anew. And I declare to all creation that.. Lord Jesus..Father God..I love you too. Please forgive me for what I put you through. Jim W.

  Excellent, everyone knows this movie

Alright, first ebay review.

It's real, it enables us to view the Passion of Jesus much better ... it takes time to absorb. The acting is fine and using the original languages, especially the Latin adds to the aura.

There are a number of Jesus movies out there, I do not opine that one in particular is better. All of them together like books that do the same, help us contemplate on the life of Christ.
