Album Notes There are many Television Personalities compilations, but this 1999 22-track disc is as close to definitive as any. Compiled by band leader and sole permanent member Daniel Treacy, PART TIME PUNKS starts with 1978's "14th Floor" and continues through to 1989's "Sad Mona Lisa." This means that excellent albums like 1992's CLOSER TO GOD are overlooked, but it's difficult to limit this prolific band's best work within a circumscribed time frame. Collecting rare singles like 1980's "Smashing Time," and tracks from classic albums like 1981's AND DON'T THE KIDS JUST LOVE IT and 1985's THE PAINTED WORD, this is a terrific overview of one of the most influential British pop bands of the postpunk era. The extensive liner notes are by Alan McGee, founder of the archetypal British indie Creation Records and the Television Personalities' self-proclaimed number one fan.
Editorial Reviews 4 stars out of 5 - Included in Q's 100 Best Punk Albums - ...An hilarious snide satire of shambolic amatuerism with three chords, if that. An instant hit with John Peel... Q
