These cameras are excellent little cameras for the money!

You need a good steady rest or a tripod if you zoom in at all. Although you can take fair video freehand. The quality of the camera is very good when viewed back on a TV screen. Features are simple and straight forward.

I use mine for filming live wildlife and hunting footage.
When mounted on a gun camera mount designed for this activity with a built in shock absorber, the shock of the gun going off makes the camera loose sound and video for a split second, but the camera starts back functioning automatically and the footage continues. The cameras are sturdy and can withstand the blast of a 3 1/2" Ulti-Mag shotgun and keep on working, I think the average user should enjoy this model for years! I have had mine out in morning rain mist and dew, and with common sense care in keeping heavy moisture off the camera, my two are still running fine!

Do yourself a favor...Shut off the digital zoom feature right away! The powerful 32X standard zoom is all you need! The digital is blurry the second it goes to digital zoom, you can not possibly hold the camera still enough for good quality when using it's powerful digital zoom feature and play back quality is horrible on a TV screen. It's easy to disable in the menu, so shut it off, it's worthless! The 32X is GREAT!

Downsides to camera.. #1 there is no digital SD card in this model for taking still photos or short .mpeg clips, but there is DV capabilities which allow computer connection for video editing on a computer. #2 there is no remote control for starting, stopping, or zooming in and out, which would come in handy filming hunting footage.


To sum it up.. for the money these cameras are the best available for your dollar, tried and tested by sportsman in rough conditions!

I chose this camera because of the OPTICAL zoom. This makes the close-ups a lot more clear. I bought a Canon digital camera with the OPTICAL zoom and am extremely pleased with it. The only downside that I see is that you have to take the battery off and hook up the charger and DV cable to transfer video. I would choose the same type of Video camera again but I would get one with SD card capability as it is convenient to carry only one camera for both activities. Also, the battery works for quite a long time too.

Bought this camera for my daughter and son in law for Christmas. Their children are growing up so fast. This vidio camera is compact and easy to use. We will never miss a special moment again. No complaints so far.

Like - light weight, zoom is nice, easy to operate.
Dislike - does not come with digital tape (have to purchase before it can be used), does not have an outlet to connect to computer. Does not have a memory chip.

I actually bought this camcorder by mistake thinking it used a mini disc but after it arrived my family was thrilled at it's incredible ability to zoom in so much and it doesn't blurry the picture if you have shaking hands. The best thing is that it works so easy with a joy stick feature--my son took it back to school with him and I bought another one for my husband. Wonderful good buy!!
