Panasonic DVD-LS850 8.5 in. Portable DVD Player

Beautiful picture, sharp and clear, DIVX included, looking nice in the car, input and output, two headphone the same time, good sound.
one problem: No remote control.

I bought this portable DVD player to entertain my two children on our vacation travel. Player performed flawless and did not skip on some rough roads. Viewing angle is good to almost excellent. The video looked excellent. The sound quality is fair to good at the low to medium setting but anything above the medium settings there will be distortion. The audio sounds excellent when using a headset at all levels. There are two input jacks so two headsets can be attached to the player. I would recommend buying headsets that have their own volume control so each child can adjust the volume on their own headset to suit their taste. I was able to watch two DVD movies at normal LCD brightness. The batteries lasted 3 hours 35 minutes before it shut off at this setting. Setting of 0. There is a battery indicator which automatically comes on when battery is low and you have about 5 minutes left before it shuts down. You can get more life or less on a battery by adjusting the brightness of the LCD (-5 to +5). I really didn't have to worry about time left since I only used this in a car and it came with a car kit. I would recommend.

The picture is great, the sound is nice and clear, lightweight, very sleek looking. Easy to use. Not sorry i bought it.

Listed as a factory refurbished item but I couldn't tell...it looks and plays like its totally brand new! Complimentary and stylish design, it looks as good as it plays, too! Attractive, slim compact design and black housing really helps highlight the screen and makes watching easier. Other models that have a metal housing, esp. around the screen, I find really distracting to watch. This unit "invites" you in to watch the movie. Easy to use, large well placed buttons makes it extremely user friendly right out of the box. Very good picture quality, not the best I've seen but I certainly can't complain...it's well above average and the anti-glare screen is great. Controls are simple and easy to use, manuel is easy to follow to make any adjustment you want. The sound quality is excellant, adjustments only make it even better, plenty of volume so you aren't limited to only using headphones when friends watch too. The screen is a nice size, not too big to be a burden to carry but big enough for several people to watch together. It is an invaluable asset at my workplace where we have long overnight shifts with periods of inactivity. Fabulous unit to pass the time with! Only downside is unit doesn't come with a remote but that's a minor detraction to the overall great review of this unit. It's a nice luxury to have a remote but certainly not a necessity. I can't comment on the battery life as I really only use the unit plugged in. Refer to other users comments that use their unit camping and such. Unit comes as a package deal with a nice carry case, car mounting kit, AC power adapter, car power adapter and audio/video input/output cord. I have always trusted the Panasonic brand and they have never let me down. This unit is worth every penny and I would not hesitate to purchase this one again. I looked at many other brands and models in Best Buy, Circuit City etc. but my opinion is this one beats them all in every category. You won't be disappointed with this one!

There are 2 major drawbacks to this DVD player. 1.) No remote control.
If you have had a DVD player before you will miss this feature. It is difficult to return to where you left off the previous day.
2.) This was billed as a 6 hr battery which is why I considered this refurbished unit. I have only gotten a little over 2 hrs on a charge.
My 3 1/2 inch Coby is much better than this overpriced refurbished unit.

The CD does not spin. However warrenty is only for labor not for parts.

So I have to pay extra money for repair.

What makes this unit standout is the battery life 6 hours. At least 2 full length movies maybe 3. The sound is fair, better with a good set of ears.
Picture is very good and you can't beat the price. Panasonic in portable DVD player's that is hard to beat all-around. Hope is has been helpful in your choice of DVD players.

I purchased this DVD player for my daughter for long trips and it came out perfect, not only is the picture quality very nice, but the head rest mount is very convenient. the buttons are place in good locations and the ability to angle the screen deferent ways is very nice, I found only 1 thing bad no remote control, but the more I think about its I don’t think I will ever need one as the player will be right in front of me when I use it so a remote is not really a big deal! Overall this player is great and would recommend to anyone.

I was a little hesitant about purchasing refurbished, but this dvd player exceeded my expectations! Packaged as new, shipped quickly. Plays great, sounds great, picture is wonderful!! We have all enjoyed it so far and will take it on the road when we go to the beach this year! I'm glad I read the reviews and purchased this one. It came with a nice case and car seat holder. A big plus for me! I'm very impressed with the quality of product I have recieved for the price.

I decided to buy this product after our previous DVD stopped working. I bough this particular brand after consulting Consumer Reports. The report was right - this DVD player is fantastic! It is easy to use (my 5 year old has mastered all the buttons), has a great picture and is very portable. Thanks to a great seller, I got it in perfect condition for a great price and in time for a road trip. I am very satisfied with the player and would recommend it!

It's an average DVD player:
Pros:
- Loud speakers
- The customizable flip screen is really a good feature
- Nice battery life ( couldn't measure it, but played two movies and didn't recharge yet)

Cons:
- Has no A/V out!!!! ( as far as I tried, it has only AUX in)
- No support for USB, SD or any other input format other than CD/DVD
- No Remote Control!
- user interface could be a lot better

If I had the choice, I'd spend few more bucks and get a better one.

I love the look of it, and the car kit is really nice. The picture is good, sound is fine and it has nice features. I bought this because of the long battery life. While it's longer than others, it does not last 6 hours. It's more like ALMOST 4. I'm still very pleased with my purchase. :-)

We bought this dvd player for our son that will be 2 in December (He loves it!)
We chose this one because it will lay flat or sit up, but does not pivot on a small hinge that is easily broken. We also like that it came with the attachment for the car headrest. The battery life is okay but because it has a accesory (cigarette lighter) plug with a long cord this is not really an issue.

I was very happy when I opened up my Panasonic DVD-LS850 Portable DVD Player and it played all my DivX discs to perfection. The swivel on the screen is great for the car and the car mounted kit it came with is great. I have been looking for a portable player to play my DivX because it's the only kind of format I use. I would highly recommend this portable player. Player comes with wall plug-in and car plug-in. The bag it comes with is great. I would consider the video quality to be 10 out of 10 and the audio to 8 out of 10. Even though the audio isn't perfect the player provides on board plug ins for computer speakers. Audio sounds perfect in the car.

I love the weight of this dvd player. It's pretty light. Also the car kit is GREAT! the player snaps into place and can't move. It's easy enough for my 6 to control on his own in the car. The swivel screen is great too! The cords that come with the player are quite long. Panasonic hit a home run with this one.

The Panasonic DVD-LS850 Portable DVD Player has proven to be a really great purchase. It is easy to use and nicely designed for travel. The picture quality is amazing. The battery when fully charged lasted about 4 hours while playing DVDs and can also be powered by the power cord. It's small enough to take with you, not much larger than a book - great for those doctor visits - watch a movie while you wait to be seen :) It has room for two headphones as well!

This dvd player is working out great so far. We purchased it for our 3 year old to watch her movies after she destroyed our last portable dvd player. Since it's pretty much exclusively used by her we weren't too concerned with picture or sound quality - just something practical that would withstand the abuse of a pre-schooler. So far so good. I especially love how easily it attaches to the car seat for long trips. Our last one was just a nylon bag with elastic straps to keep the screen up and it didn't work well at all. This one is so much better. I also like how the screen folds out and can be adjusted easily. I do wish it came with a remote and that the cord was longer since we keep it plugged into the wall most of the time. But this was a great value and it's working out great!
