Panasonic DVD-LS82 8.5 in. Portable DVD Player with Screen

I've always wanted a portable DVD player. When I saw that there was a better option than a 2-3 hour battery, I jumped on the chance.

The number one thing that needs to be mentioned about this unit is that it parts with the standard battery life of portable DVD players. Until this unit, I've never seen more battery life than 3 hours, but then I found this Panasonic with TWELVE HOURS !?!?!?!?!!!! Are they JOKING? As it turns out, NO, they are NOT joking. This player actually will play TWELVE hours on a charge. I tested it on a non-stop flight from Houston to Amsterdam...a flight that lasted ELEVEN hours, and when I touched down in Amsterdam, it was still chugging away. No joke. This is such an amazing piece of work from Panasonic. I really must salute their effort.

This player also has a very clever folding screen, and it can be put in a position to suit every situation. There are dual speakers, positioned on either side of the picture. The speakers, though small, are loud enough to actually use, even in a noisy car. They also do not distort when played up near 100%. The user-adjustable picture controls are first-rate. This is just simply a fantastic piece of Panasonic engineering. It not only plays DVDs, but also plays many (most) computer cds (divx, mpeg, dvi, etc.). You need one. You really do.

Grt little unit. Has probably one of the longest lasting battery in it's class. It's light weight. Plus it's made by a well known and a reliable company.

I bought this to take on the plane for my 2 year old after borrowing someone else's. I did some research and this got the best reviews. I have also always been a fan of Panasonic electronics....even my Panasonic vacuum was a good one. The picture and sound on this DVD player is great. Brightness adjustment is a great feature to use when riding in the car at dark so it's not so bright. If I had to come up with a disappointment, it would be that I thought it swiveled side to side but it doesn't. The one I borrowed didn't either and wouldn't have known the difference until I read that it swiveled and thought it meant side to side. I would have bought this anyway.

The product does not work.

As I have been traveling quite a bit lately I thought it would be a great idea to own a portable dvd player to help pass the time. After doing research in stores and online I found the unit that I just had to have! A Panasonic that has a 12 hour battery life, the longest lasting battery on the market. Since it was rather pricey and I've always had good luck and no complaints with ebay I made the purchase there. At the same time I introduced someone else to the ebay experience that I am always bragging about. The transaction went fine, and shipment was timely. Everything seemed great until the time came to use the product and the person sold me a defective battery. While using the dvd player a message appears on the screen the says "error 01" in the manual this says that that is a battery failure and to contact the dealer. I found this out after the 5 day grace period that the seller gave me for a refund. Now I am stuck with a useless dvd player that I paid a lot for and the closest thing that I can find to a replacement battery at through Panasonic costs $100. After all of the aggravation and replacement parts I should have bought a brand new until from a store! This has been my only negative experience using ebay, but it's major enough to make me fearful of using it again. I do not know to proceed from this point, and am having a hard time finding advice on ebay's website. As I said, the process and transaction went well, but I feel that the seller sold me faulty equipment and was dishonest. I am now stuck with a $130 piece of junk, and a desire of steer away from ebay for future purchases.

Extremely satisfied, eBay purchase. Very clear display. User friendly controls, even without a manual, which can be download from the internet. As others have stated, the 12-hr rated battery is when all settings are set to the very bare minimum... mine averages about 4 to 6 hrs on a full charge... which equates to about 2 full movies using my preferred setting on the display and sound. Headphones are optional, but recommended when used in crowds, and when you don't want to disturb others around you. For use in the car, headphones are optional, but I do recommend using the AC adapter for extended trips of 2+ hours. Build quality is high. Not having a remote gives me one less thing to lose over time. Highly recommend!

What is really phenominal about this unit is the battery life, which approaches 12 hours. This is nearly unheard of with other portable dvd players. That is what sold me on it, along with the Panasonic name. I have a pair of Panasonic HD Plasma TVs at home, so I trust their quality and technology. I love using this unit when I'm travelling, especially on the long flights. I'm no longer bored on the flights with no movies or sorry ones. It's even better than having my own video on demand. The only limitation is the number of dvds and cds I pack to watch/listen to. The picture quality is very good, with a number of settings to choose from. The 8 inch widescreen is pretty much a perfect size. I would recommend a set of noise cancelling earbuds/headphones, mainly to stretch the battery life even farther by not having to jack up the sound. With those on, you forget you are even on a plane at all. I can't say I've found anything to dislike about this unit.

I had a trip to take to the UK, and wanted something small and with shard quality to watch and pass the time on such a long flight. The flight was almost 10 hours and this dvd player made the time fly right by, the unit is great and I recommend it to anyone.

I decided to buy because..;(4 reasons)
1. Is one of my 4 brand names..; Panasonic, Jvc, Toshiba, and Sony.
2. What is made in Japan is made forever,as far as the "ELECTRONIC PRODUCTS" no other country can defeat them,not even the EUROPEANS.
3. Seller had a "EXCELLENT" feedback + the merchandise was complete(cables, instruction etc.. + merchandise must be like brand new.
4. Pacakage has to be prettty well wrap to avoid any damages to the merchandise, otherwise nobody wants to buy damaged merchandises.

Product was exactly as ordered. Although it was used, it was in great shape. Was a perfect Christmas present. Delivery was quick. I'd buy again ...

i had one of this dvd player.i gave it away as a present. i like the the screen, you can move it backwards.it is great.

I'm giving this an "Excellent" rating because so far it's done everything I wanted it to do. I purchased it mainly for roadtrips and I like that it comes with the mounting kit for the car. The picture quality and sound is good. About the only thing I wish it had was a remote control. Overall a great player, especially if you can pick it up cheap on eBay.

This is really cool. The picture quality is very good to excellent. Sound quality is best your going to get with a portable player. I attached a pair of powered speakers, works great or use your car audio or head phones as intended.

A bit slow to load but no problems with bumby roads due to anti skip. Battery life is great about two full movies easy on fully lighted screen.

I love it, I seen a co-worker with one and like the picture, how it was designed, my cousin seen it and he's crazy about it

THIS PRODUCT IS AWESOME !!!!!!! IT HAS A CRISP PICTURE AND GREAT SOUND .IT FEELS LIKE I AM AT THE MOVIES .ALSO IT WAS A GREAT BARGAIN COMPARED TO BEST BUY AND OTHERS STORES .

Overall good player, but Volume levels are too low. Can not hear in noisy areas even with good headsets. It is built well and battery life is excellent.

This portebale DVD have a 12h buttary and suppots all formats like AVI, DivX MP3 and more.
No remote.

Like to Panasonic for many reasons, First is the long battery life - Up to 12 hours this depends on screen brightness setting. Second is its ability to play several video formats and music CD's. The unit also came with a mounting kit for the headrest of your car, entertainment for the kids. Also it includes both A/C charger and 12 volt power cord.

What I like most about this product is the slim design and battery life. The screen tilts to give you your viewing angle preference. Although the screen is not that hi-def, quality of the picture is excellent. 2 headphone jacks so you an your partner can listen at the same time. Controls are very elementary but it will be nice if there is a control lock because sometimes you can accidentally press the buttons easily. Overall, very nice product!
