  T3 is the bomb

ok, so the Life Drive is out, and I sold my T3 to buy one. Well, it has a faster processor than the T3, yet it runs slower. The wifi is cute, but not really that functional, I mean the screen while high res for a palm, is still tiny compared to any computer... It keeps crashing on me, and I have installed all the updates. It has this awful lag when you try to open any program.

Bottom line? the T3 is smaller, faster and in my opinion, better. Unless you just absolutely need the 4 gigs space (for what I don't know, don't say mp3's, just buy a cheap SD memory card and run then from you guessed it, the T3) I'd stick with the T3. The T5 has a plastic case, and the TX has a slower processor. My Lifedrive is on ebay 4 sale now, and I'm shopping for a new T3 right now...

For perspective, I have used Palm computers since about 8 or 10 years, starting with the PalmPilot Personal, then a Palm III then a Palm Vx, then my beloved T3, and now this frustrating LifeDrive.

TUNGSTEN T3--STILL AMONG THE BEST PDA's
Review created: 04/30/06

I am giving this PDA 5/5 because it still is the most functional Palm PDA available. I have been using Palm products since the Palm Pilot 1000. The T3 is the best since the Handspring Prism. It has an exceptional screen, better file system than the current models, faster "bootup" than the LifeDrive, and great screen real estate and processor. Although it lacks integrated Wi-Fi, I have been able to connect via an expansion WiFi card that is available. (I would not recommend this option as the power usage while wifi is on is extremely high). Bluetooth allows wireless pairing with a cell phone for an extremely large phonebook as well as a data link. Its infrared capabaility will do the same, however both devices need to be physically aligned making it more unwieldy than using its built-in bluetooth capability. SD cards provide all the extra memory that one might need and the internal RAM (around 52 MB) is more than enough for most apps. It also is very sturdy with a metal casing and a 5-way navigation button. In the closed position, it will easily fit in a front pocket. It also comes with a USB cradle rather than the USB synchronization cables that the newer Palms come with. The cradles are easier to work with and allow for a more secure resting place than the current crop of cable only connections.

It was discontinued by Palm after the T5 was introduced apparently due to some problems with the "slider mechanism". (The screws occasionally become loose and interfere with opening and closing the PDA). As far as I am concerned this is its only drawback. I had to have it replaced once via Palm's "advanced exchange in warranty program" due to this problem; however, Palm sent me a new unit within two days of my reporting the problem.

Overall, this is a great PDA. If you can find a new, or "lightly used model" from $130.00 to $230.00, its worth a serious look at purchasing.

Very Smart Design - One of the best large screens
Review created: 09/11/08
by:

Love the large screen. In a design worthy of Apple, Palm made the T3 a slider. That is the bottom part of the device can slide up to make it a bit more compact. When you pull the bottom down, more screen is revealed. The virtual input pad is nice because when needed can be used to give you a bit more screen real estate.

The voice recorder is really useful. As a songwriter, it is really cool to be able to record snippets of ideas as you have them. These can be transferred to your computer for permanent storage. Of course, you can enter lyrical ideas on the palm in memo-pad or whatever text program you prefer. So it is really a great device for musicians.

The device is also capable of mp3 playback which while I wouldn't normally use it as my mp3 player it can do it in a pinch or if you just want to travel light with just one device.

I like the fact that it doesn't have a camera. The cameras they stick on these things don't take good photos anyway and generally are just another thing to go wrong or to muck up the device. My Sony TH55 was a good example. Eventually the camera stopped working and due to poor engineering the camera button can be pushed too easily and everytime it gets pushed the device locks up. Terrible.

These are a good buy when you can find them in good shape used. They will be useful for years to come.

  Palm Tungsten T3
Review created: 07/24/08

Out of production for several years now, the T3 is STILL the best PDA Palm has ever made. With the slider closed it's small enough to put in my pocket but with the slider open it has a large screen (much bigger than any smartphone). With the addition of DateBk6 software from PimlicoSoftware.com my T3 is my alarm clock, my personal and business calendars, my constant reminder (I have a problem with time), and my To-Do list. I've added hundreds of poems, a large reference book for work (DSM IV), a huge English dictionary, a medical dictionary, a Spanish/English dictionary, games (Bejeweled, solitare, etc.), 15,000 movie reviews, and a LOT more! I've had a T3 since 2003 and I'm still amazed every day at how much it does for me.

Yea, I've absolutely experience with all my palm T3 PC pocket, there can be holds of storages unloading from the computers and can be available for order to buy it before they will download into a upgrades the palm, Now, There have a SD memory card into the palm pocket. There can be anything you want to loading the pictures from Digital camera or computers will be working with the screen pictures on the pockets, If there not have it, You will need to ordering for buy a software parts or download into updates before you can seen some of it. However, If there old battery will cant afford to keep holds of more than 24 hours unless u using those palm when u working on it, Battery will running lower, Make sure you will need a charger power plug will holds of it. If traveling without one, You will have to limits it if u needs it. Also There doesn't support of WI-FI wireless network if you are in the coffee houses or hotels or schools or homes, You have to contact with your cell phones company for which you needs make a subscribe for GPRS service connection progress with your cell phone will be working with Internet service where there can help you to saving you times as away as from your home computers or working computers or whatever you used it. But There a GPRS Internet can be work with your pocket for 24 hours to use it but expect a battery will running out if you using a Internet. There will messages to warning you needs charger before u using or there will went black screen u cant works it without chargers it.
Good Luck.

  The best Palm ever!!
Review created: 05/08/08
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

The T3 is the fastest Pilot and the best if you don't need the Internet on your PDA. Because it is fast, it is the easiest to use with Graffiti. I bought a TX to replace my aging T3, and ended up giving the TX to my daughter to sell on Ebay, and bought an almost new T3 to replace the old T3 (the screen was starting to go after intensive daily use over 3.5 years). The TX was so slow, I was tripping over myself when using Graffiti.
I only wish Palm would made a new Pilot with the 400 mhz CPU, and flash memory, and without the sliding case.

  GET AN iPHONE FOR FREE!!!
Review created: 02/26/08

Get one for FREE!!! Have a look at this video first:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DFKYVE__Mug

Just take 2 minutes and read this. This is very EASY to do! It literally takes 10 minutes to setup. Simply follow the steps below. I promise you, this is 100% real. Here is what you do. Click on the link below, register, pick an account type (referral is the easiest) and complete just 1 offer (Very important that you complete the 1 offer otherwise your account will sit in limbo until you do). The best offer to do is STAMPS.com. Its free, all you need to do is register and follow the instructions. And you’re on your way to your free prize for just completing this offer!

There are plenty of cool offers to choose from such as Blockbuster online, Stamp.com, Netflix, Gamefly which are services you would regularly sign up for anyways and their all secure networks, why not use them to get a free PS3, flat screen TV, iPHONE, ipod or cash (I did the Stamps.com for a 4 week free trial and it is free! I don’t have to do anything with it). Look at the offers and choose the one that works for you. After signing up and completing your one offer, simply refer 5-14 people or friends (depending on the FREE prize you choose) to do the same under your link (just post the same thing as I have on eBay or any other message board, and you'll get your referrals before the auction even ends.)

Then they will ship your selected item for free. No Joke, 100% REAL!!! The reason these companies make money, is because most people don't bother getting all the referrals. All you have to do is post it on EBAY! They use us as advertisement by word of mouth which saves them tons of money which goes toward yours and my free gift. These are legit companies such as Blockbuster, Netflix, Gamefly etc... You can copy my listing if you want. You must use your own authentic link though. You will get your own personal link after your orders placed.

Step 1: http://www.YourFreeiPhone.com/index.php?ref=4687874

Step 2: Sign up and chose an account type (Referral is the easiest and best).

Step 3: Complete just 1 offer (like Blockbuster or Stamps.com) and refer up to 13 people to do the same (use eBay! Do what I did, copy my ad).

Step 4: Receive your IPHONE, FLAT SCREEN TV, IPOD, PS3, or CASH for FREE!!!!!!!!!! (Even The Shipping Is Free!!!)

  Tungsten T3

I bought the Tungsten T3 because I am a practicing Nurse. It gives me the ability to carry job related information in my pocket. I was able to download
a program that will keep me current and up to date medical information, that is so eay to access. No more carrying a medical dictionary, drug book, or meical surgical guide for signs, symptom, or appropriate nursing actions. They make all of those books in "Pocket Guides".Carrying all of those Pocket Guides, can be back breaking. When I am not using it for work, I use it for my personal life.Lots of room for contacts, notes, calendar and events. I love it!

  Tungsten T3 Versatility
Review created: 01/02/08
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I have owned Tungsten E and E2 Palms and the T3's features set it far above. I have read other reviews on the T3 and it's younger brother the T/X as well as Lifedrive and based on what I know and have read this is the Palm Handheld for me. It features a more compact size when you only need the viewable screen and expands when you need to enter text. The function buttons are all programmable just like other Palms so it is easy to customize. The T3 has a built-in voice recorder - so much faster and easier to leave yourself a note than writing it out in memos. Just like it's older siblings it has an SD Card slot where I keep all my games, e-books and music. Bluetooth & infrared connectivity lets me connect with my wifes palm and share appointments and other information quickly and effortlessly. Be sure to pick up a hard case for yours. The docking cradle is cumbersome, but charges the T3 quickly. I prefer the USB cable connection - it charges the T3 and allows me to hotsync with my computer with just one cable. I keep a pair of computer speakers on my nightstand and plug them in at bedtime so I can listen to my favourite tunes and read an E-book before falling asleep.

The only thing I don't like about this Palm is that I haven't been able to find a source for battery replacement. I have one T3 whose battery life is pretty short and I no longer use it for much.

Overall this is a fantastic product and I highly recommend it to anyone in the market for a versatile PDA.

I purchased one from Best Buys about 4 years ago for about $400.00, its the best of the old style Palm Pilots with the extendable screen. I use it for contacts, callender and tasks/notes. My wife uses is for games. After the screen became a little warn I decided to give it to my wife and I shopped ebay for a second unit. I got an unbelievable deal on ebay $51 +SH.

  Very satisfied with this Palm.
Review created: 12/03/07

I purchased this particular Palm because I needed an operating system not newer than 5.2.8. due to my Top Producer software which couldn't be upgraded to use one of the newer Palm's. Unfortunately after paying several hundred dollars for the Top Producer program which included lifetime support, Top Producer stopped producing upgrades and "glitch" fixes and finally discontinued "lifetime" support.
I think the Tungsten T3 is absolutely wonderful and has an incredible number of available features including BlueTooth capability, mobile phone dialing, memos, note pad, Phone Link, Photos, Text Messages,e-mail, and voice memo, I am still learning how to use all the features. I had to replace the battery because the unit was about 3 years old even though it had not been used so the battery wouldn't hold a charge. I am very satisfied with it.

Large, clear, color screen. Fast processor. Large memory. Loud alarm. Great OS. Many applications available.

Sync with Outlook (Palm conduits) works, but is a bit slow if changes have been made in both PDA and Outlook. Resolution of differences beween the PDA and Outlook is ultimately manual.

I bought the T3 pda as an organizational tool. It has a wide range of internal features and external components that are user friendly. It has served me well for my needs. The only thing I can think of that I would change are the tiny screws used in various places on the unit. They can fall out and may cause operational problems. But, the screws are easily obtainable from multiple vendors. All in all it has been a good purchase.

The palm T3 is a great product. Large bright screen. More than enough memory. My particular vendor did not like answering e-mails. For every three I sent over time he would answer, usually more that a few days. Warranty card was no good, outdated, which meant that the manufacturers warranty was also no good. My first unit arrived and was damaged or something, sent back using express mail (3days) got another unit back more that ten days after that.

  Amazing!
Review created: 08/17/07
8 of 9 people found this review helpful.

I've had my trusty Palm T3 for over three years now. It's my 4th Palm (Vx, T, T2, T3), and it's my favorite. It works as well today as the day I bought it. I've tried the Life Drive, and the TX, and went back to my T3. I've also tried the Treo 650, but I like the T3 combined with a bluetooth cell phone (Moto RazR for me) better.

The feature set on the T3 cannot be beat -- for me, the voice recorded is a prime functionality. I love recording meetings. I'll pull the audio directly off the SD card (don't even need to sync) and open it up directly in Quicktime in less than 30 seconds. Amazing. And I can save an audio record of virtually any meeting I attend to the hard drive on my laptop.

Same think with documents to go - I'll start a Word doc, or excel, or even power point, on the T3 and save it to the SD card. Then I eject the SD card and insert it in the card reader on my laptop. Again, I don't even need to synch, and the file is there on my laptop.

Of course I can also synch to move the files if I prefer, and I can also use the built-in blue tooth. But I find that I really like storing documents and audio on the SD card -- that way I can simply move the card back and forth between my Palm and my Powerbook.

My only complaint about the T3 is built in Wi-Fi would be nice, but the Palm wi-fi card is a very-close-to-perfect remedy for this shortcoming. Having said that, I don't use wi-fi as much as I use the bluetooth. I've found that I tend to be hard on cell phones - so I go through them pretty often. It's nice to have all my information in the Palm, and I can always use the Palm Phonebook to drive the phone. I don't have to worry about putting my hundreds of numbers in each new phone I buy.

In short- I have nothing but great things to say about my Palm -- it is truly a digital assistant. It helps you get through a busy day without missing a beat. I really can't imagine ever giving it up -- best PDA Palm ever made, bar none.

I bought this PDA for my son for graduation. He absolutely loved it. He doesn't seem to mind, (but if I were to have one, and eventually I will)they should make these PDA's with a back button instead of having to use the home button and starting over all the time. Other than that it is great. I wish I could have been able to afford the next step us though so he could have internet. Also, can't figure out how to use the phone dialer.
