    Palm Treo 650

Although many people swear by the Blackberry, I recently decided to purchase a Palm Treo 650 with Cingular as a provider. The features of the phone are terrific. With full functionality of a PDA, integrated with Bluetooth technology, a camera and packed in a compact unit, it is the perfect organization tool. In addition to these great features, the true benefit of the Treo 650 is the ease of use. Unlike the Blackberry, the 320 x 320 touchscreen makes checking email, switching between applications or just surfing the web simple and straight forward. The look and feel of this product is far superior to that of its competitors.

While I would definitely recommend the Treo 650, it does have its flaws. Reception, in compared to other Cingular phones, is not very strong. Signal can fade and calls are sometimes dropped. In addition, there unit sometimes will restart automatically - a bug that Treo claims to have fixed in the latest version of the hardware.

Lastly, when making your decision, also make sure that your phone (either Treo 650 or Blackberry) is fully supported by your company's Microsoft Exchange Server. This will bring truly bring the features and functionality alive.

The Treo 650 I bought was to free me from the tangle of cell phones, pagers, laptops and to keep me out of the office more. I had to be connected for my business and personal life at all times, but I felt like I was dragging a 100 pound weight with me because of all the devices I was using. The Treo 650 is powerful enough to do about 80% of what a laptop does with some great trade offs for additional convenience. With additional apps and hardware the Treo can provide GPS navigation, MP3 streaming to a bluetooth headset, video recording, document editing, email access from just about any source including VPN linking to your corporate account. Realtors can access the MLS, parts suppliers can use barcode recognition software to check inventory from the field, and so many other things it still amazes me. The reliability and ability to keep a synchronized back up on your PC makes choosing this device one of the easiest decisions ever if you feel as I did with all those other things to juggle. This is a life saver and is way beyond the capabilities of any Blackberry device which doesn't even deserve to mentioned in the same sentence IMO. As with any advanced device you will need to be tech saavy to use one of these and be prepared to learn a few things if you are not familiar with the Palm OS or Treo but these will sync to either PC or Mac machines.

I got my wife the Treo 600 and she loved it!!! A camera phone, MP3 player, Game Machine, and pocket pc! She uses like her personal lap top. All of these gadgets in one. I thought great, but why? So I got the treo 650, with the video recorder, camera, pda, mp3, etc.. I realized why she liked it so much. I use this thing everyday. It's so much more than a phone.

I love the concept of this PDA/Phone. Why the reception is lest than my samsung 670 who know. I am still deciding if I am going to keep this. I like the ability to read and send email . Speaker phone is nice. Cant believe how far behind the curve on voice dialing they are. Have to pay extra for soft wear. Most phones have it standard on them. Recognition is not that great. My samsung you say the name and it dials it. Palm you say the name and it pulls up 3 names it might be??? So much for hands free voice dialing. Can not voice dial with your blue tooth hands free head set??? I guess if you have the palm head set you can. I may have to see what samsung has to offer cuz I just figured palm would have the same technology???? Could be a great product. Good key board design, nice screen, can see full email, surf web.....Down falls RECEPTION and Phone voice dialing
