I have been using Palm Pilots since 1998 (a M505) to replace a bulkly paper planner. I purchased my first T2 in early 2000 to take with me on deployment to the Balkans. Not only did it live through the rigors of Army life (especially w/ the Palm hard clam shell case), but it also gave me a small, convenient platform to keep me on schedule and my contact list handy. It is also easy to "sync" with my computer w/ the included software. I "sync" regularly to ensure I don't lose any information. I also use the "beaming" function to exchange contact information w/ friends and business associates who are as Palm users. I considered upgrading to later versions of the Tungsten and then the LifeDrive, but the T2 continues to give me what I need in a PDA. I have purchased a total of three T2s. The first finally died after five good years, I bought a second that I continue to use, and then just recently a third as a back-up. I just don't want to be without one. I highly recommend this PDA for those who don't have to have the latest gadget, but want a well equipped, well performing, and less expensive alternative.

I have been using the T2 for about 5 years. I too have worn out one, have a current favorite and one more for back up, and have purchased several for friends. My wife also uses one, and we particularly enjoy the Scrabble game, as you can beam it back and forth, a great way to visit and enjoy a game while waiting for the waiter to bring a meal. I have a huge library on a 1 gig expansion card, and manage to do a little reading at odd times of the day. These are a great PDA for someone who wants basics and dependability.

  Happy about my purchase

I had a concern after I bought the Palm, and he quickly helped me out. I have enjoyed it, and it was all that I expected it to be. I received it quickly and in good condition. I personally have another Palm T2 and loved it so much, and they don't make them anymore that I was glad to be able to purchase this one for my husband. It works as well as mine.

This Palm T2 is a replacement for one I had for a couple of years but broke -- cracked the screen. Palm wanted $160 to look at it to see if it could be fixed, so i brought this for $90. Its just as good as the old one ever was, which is very good indeed.

I like my T2, it is compact and I am able to set custom buttons. I wish the battery lasted longer but have alot of information on it so that is not to bad. Was not saavy enough to figure some of it but knew people that could help. I needed it so keep track of all the kids stuff along with school, work and church stuff. I like having such a big contact list. It alphabetizes everything for me too.

  T2 PDA Love it!

I have owned a T2 for several years. I bought this for my husband.I really like the amount of memory on the PDA and with memory cards there is no limit to uses. I have one for music and one for books. So I can listen to music and read at the same time. Color features are great. It rarely ever crashes like the windows based PDAs

Still learning how to use, but it does everything I wanted it to do so far. Will expand the memory and add programs in the future. I'm thrilled that I bought this Palm.

Wish I could figure out how to delete previous year calendars.

Palm Tungsten T2 is Palm's best
Review created: 08/01/09

I have been using "palm pilots" since the early 90's. I think that the T2 is the best I've had and I wish that Palm still sold it new. There are lots of apps available that are useful to me, especially HandBase. The migration from one app to another is quick and steady and it seldom needs a cold reboot. I wore out a couple and when Palm stopped selling them, I bought the then latest combined with a cell phone: the Treo 650 (I'm on AT&T wireless). I found that both the cell and Palm sections to be less than satisfactory. The quick migration from one app to another on the Palm section that I was used to from T2 experience is not there on the Treo. So next I bought a new E2, thinking I would use the E2 for Palm applications and the Treo as only a cell phone. Same slow migration problem! Now I'm back to buying used T2's.
I gave the device 4 stars rather than 5 because the T2 fails too frequently in other respects, usually (but not always) coming back with a reboot.
Since the T2 is no longer available new, I don't recommend these used T2's for a first Palm. When my cell phone contract is up at the end of 2009 I'll be getting an iPhone.

Palm should of skipped to the T3.

Much like the Tungsten T, the T2 is the same glorious size and body style! Buttons even, just that with the new TFT screen introduced with this T, Palm made the case a lighter brighter silver, which is nice, but it loses something that makes the Tungsten T so very special and cool.

From using and trying out so many Palms (see my previous auctions), I've settled on the T not the T2 as the ultimate Palm ever. Close follow up with the T3, which if you're going TFT screen - is a must. Why use the TFT with that fantastic newer Palm OS which takes advantage of the bigger screen on the T3, Lifedrive?

Anyway, if one of your main concerns is size and trust me, size in Palms matters, at least to me, the T2 is not a bad Palm at all, the size is incredible for on the go carrying, in pocket comfort.

Lot of memory, beautiful screen, battery better than T1, can hold alot of applications, can record voices, can get a used one for $50-$75 dollars.

Cons-internet access poor.

If you want good organizer cheap with good memory and can process alot of applications and a nice screen, this is the one to get. If you want internet access, don't buy.

I love that it is more flexible than the other palms that I have had in the past. I am a very simple person, and the Tungsten T2 helps me keep more things in order than I really need to keep track of on a daily basis

Palm Tungsten T2 for Traveling Light
Review created: 12/09/08
by:
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

The Tungsten T2 has the slide that reveals the stylus input pad which is hidden when the slide is closed making the PDA smaller than most others. This is a plus for those wanting a small package easily carried in pocket or purse.

The Palm OS is lean and mean, but still packs a lot of features into a small space. The user interface is extremely user friendly which is great for those who just want a relatively simple device with which to maintain and easily their contact, calendar and task info. It has a lot of other features such as mp3 playing, word and spreadsheet capability, and photo albums, but chalk those up as bonuses.

I bought it for the reasons stated above and it proved more than adequate for my needs, mostly because I also have an iPod Touch 32GB for all that other stuff, but the Touch lacks the administrative depth provided by the Tungsten T2 and others like it.

Did I mention I got the Tungsten T2 for almost nothing? In these economic times, finding a bargain on eBay like what I found with this T2 - and there are several more in the same category - is very helpful and even exciting to some degree. It operates and looks like brand new at a fraction of its original cost.

What's not to like?

  Nice and stylish organiser

Bought this device on eBay because it was cheap and I really needed it for my collection. It is a very nice organiser, metal case makes it a very serious and robust one.

The only con I've noticed is a small size of heap memory (only 800 kbytes) but it is easily expandable till 1800 kb using a hack named FHR.

the palm pilot seems to be functioning fine, but I am unable to sync to down load or up load. The disk sent with palm was a basic set up, more information like operating instructions would have been very useful, been on line for info but I still cant sync it, so the app I bought the thing for I still cant use.

For the price it was a good purchase ($20) but the battery was dead and not rechargeable. Unit is suspect as how long it will last. Luckily I was able to get a battery at batteries plus!

I dislike that the unit is out of date, and low in Memory. Other than that I like the size, ease of handling.
