One of my favorite series. The characters are charmingly eccentric family members of a Boston Beacon Hill clan. Widowed and nearly destitute, young Sarah Kelling runs an elegant Beacon Hill boarding house on Tulip. She runs her boarding house as successfully as she solves murders. Max Bittersohn, a fine arts detective, is her favorite lodger. Not only are most of Sarah's boarders and family eccentric, but her maid and butler, a sometime actor are also. Max and Sarah find ways to solve mysteries, but will they find their way to romance? I laugh out loud at MacLeod's writing.
