The Pact by Jodi Picoult (2006, Paperback)

By far one of the best books I have ever read. The content is very disturbing. I was in a blue funk for 3 days while reading it. I am rarely tempted to skip to the back of a book because I just can't stand the suspense any longer. The temptation to do that very thing was almost unbearable but I resisted. An absolutely GREAT read!!!

If you want a book that starts off with a "bang" this is sure it! Fantastic read and intense story you will be at the edge of your seat and wont be able to put this book down! You don't need to read any other of her books to read this one. This was the only Piccoult book I've read and it was fantastic. Looking to read more when I have time!

The book was chosen by my book club and everyone enjoyed it for many different reasons. As a mother of a teenager I was torn by how much the teens kept difficult feelings to themselves instead of seeking help. I gave the book to my son to read so we could discuss these issues.

i love this book, at first i decided to buy it because i read one of Jodi Picoults books and I loved to so i went on to buy all 13 of her books and this was the second on i read and its amazing and I loved it all the way through!! I cannot wait to read all 11 other of her novels!

There is something about this author that just grabs you. This is my 3rd book of her's and you find yourself not wanting to put the book down. She writes as if the character that is being referenced is actually writing about themselves or you are in a conversation with that person. It does jump around from character to character but that is what keeps you going, wanting to find out what happens to them next. This author is a must read, I have not found anyone yet who has not liked her.

This is defently one of the best books I have ever read! I highly recommend this to anyone who loves a good romance/thriller. I read it through easily always wanting more time to read! Again, VERY VERY good book!

Wonderful book - love the author! I have to write more characters and not sure what to say. I got the book just days after I ordered and love it.....

The book was in great condition. Price and condition were better than any book I've purchased from a used book store.

I read this for a bookclub I am in. I read it a few
years ago, but reread it. I think this book is awesome,
I couldn't put it down. At first I felt so sorry for Emily,
but by the books end I was mad at her too for what Chris had
to live through after her death.

Piccoult unfolds the story with amazing skill, a good read. The story itself is somewhat depressing, a little unrealistic, but the way she weaves the story makes it believable and moving.

This is reasonably entertaining beach or airplane reading, but don't expect to get much more out of it than that. The author merely skims the surface of teenage suicide and doesn't truly bring you into the mind of the suicidal teen to fully understand her. Thus, it lacked the depth necessary to truly pull anything meaningful away from it other than understanding a few textbook warning signs of suicide.

i love Jodi Picoult's books. good read. i liked the story line but really wanted to know what was in the diary... there were a few things left inconclusive but i wasn't unsatisfied with the story. overall i'd give it a B.

I liked this book for several reasons: 1. I'm a jodi fan and hooked on most of her books 2. You can pick up one without having to read others - each story is unique, fictional in it's own right but at the same time has very TRUE TO LIFE story lines. It could be any of us, any time. 3. If you have teenagers or young adults, give this one some thought. There are times parents say hindsight is 20/20 - I should have known, seen, listened. This book will bring to light a tough topic, but one I think we all need to be perhaps more aware of. 4 stars!

This book was an interesting read. It is very differant from what I normally read. I would suggest it if you're looking for mindless entertainment.

I like all of the books Jodi Picoult has written. Each one is about real subjects. I would like to read anything she has written. I think teen suicide is something that happens quite often & her story was very real.

highly recommend this author .. am reading #6 in a series of 7 of her books that I own and each and every one was a winner .. recommend half.com to purchase books .. all mine came in the good condition they advertised and were at least half the costs from the stores even with the S&H ..
