Michael Keaton is a great actor in Batman & other movies where you love him. In this movie he is fantastic as the evil self serving psychopath & sociopath who preys on a young couple who are just trying to buy & enjoy their own home. They rent out apartments, in their home to people but Michael Keaton's character just sort of "moves in" without approval. Then the fun starts. He succeeds in destroying not only his apartment but almost the couple's lives. But in a classic twist he gets the tables turned on him & learns pay-back is hell. Great acting by Melanie Grifith et al including a short scene with her mother, Tippi Hedron. Loved the movie & watched many times. Bought it because I could.

If your like me that likes to learn from films and be entertained at the same time then this is the film for you. This film was recomended by my Real Property professor in my college. It really help me to the frustration of landlords. Watch it for entertaiment, Michael Keaton is amazing as a villain with a glimpse of Batman. I loved this movies.

I like suspence movies and this one was one of them. I heard about this older movie and I am glad I purchased it.

This movie is an excellent source for first time landlords. I recommend that anyone renting out a room in their home or purchasing rental property watch this movie. It is very informative.

good movie will make you think twice before investing in rental propertys fur sure....i don't like the minimum number of characters that are required to be input in these reviews...

Well acted, scary, and very possible! Whoever decided to cast Michael Keaton as a bad guy really got this going. Enjoy it.

This is an excellent movie! I think everyone that has rental property or is thinking of purchasing real estate to rent should watch this movie. It shows just how the laws are sometimes set up to help the criminal. It also shows one truly beautiful mansion. I also think that Michael Keaton should play more bad guy roles, he is truly great at it.

I received the DVD pretty fast once communication with the seller was made. The cover of the DVD was it's original cover. I felt that there was more wear and tear on the cover than the description lead me to believe, but the movie played good. Overall, I am satisfied with my purchase.

I'm a screenwriter and was about to write a thriller when I decided to look back at thriller movies I'd seen in the past to figure out why they had an impact on me. One of my all time favorites is Pacific Heights so it was the first one reviewed... and the last. I didn't need to look at any other films because this one is so complete from the setup to the payoff. It really delivers one dilemma after another with no light at the end of the tunnel. I don't know that this was the best acting role for Keaton, (each time I saw him I could not get the image of Beetle Juice out of my head) but it was adequate enough to keep the story moving. Well paced, this nightmare is the kind of film that makes the audience question, "What would I do if this happened to me?". And when the audience does that, they are truly along for the ride. That's all you can ask for.

Michael Keaton was great in this movie. It started out a little slow. But is has some great twist and turns and ends up being a great thriller.

If you can get past the predictable ending, the movie is good for people starting out in real estate. My professor used this as an example of how difficult it is to get rid of a bad tenant. The situation was worsened by the fact that the couple bought a house they couldn't afford.

We LOVE movies that show us/remind us of what can really happen in this world, and how the law protects the guilty if youre not careful. The movie starts out where a couple completely in love, choose to pursue their American Dream by purchasing a home of their own and bringing it back to life by putting all of their love and devotion into the house. After the remodel, they rent out sections of this beautiful home to people they feel they can trust. That was their first fault, as things are always as they may seem. One of the new tenants takes them, their home, and their love for a ride!! The scenes get pretty vicious and disturbing, but keep in mind that this "can" happen. The movie contains a lot of action througout its entirety, while helping us understand what can really go wrong. In the end, you'll feel what hard work and devotion can do! This is an older movie(1990), but definitely a MUST SEE/MUST OWN. You shouldnt be disappointed. We give it TWO THUMBS UP!!

I bought this movie for a school assignment. It is a good movie and I'm glad I bought it instead of renting it.

I like Michael Keaton and I had seen the film years back and wanted to share it with a friend. The filming and plot were excellent, exciting scary movie.
