Oz - The Complete First Season (2002, DVD)

This is an exceptional show that protrays how prison life is within the confines, how the prisoners treat each other, the guards and how the drug epidemic is in that environment. When this series came on HBO, i believe lots of people watched and learned. Ernie Hudson does a magnificent job at running the facility. Great movie for collectors but may have to use some judgement if children are around.

I bought this as a gift so I did not nor will not watch it. The tv series should be rated R and sometimes X. It must have pleased many viewers and critics because of the lenght of time it ran. The content and language is certainly abrasive. I guess it is a man's show of where not to be, in prison. For adults only! I am giving it an average rating because it is not for every one.

The best series ever I love it if you like prison shows this is the one. I couldn't find it in stores around where I live so I thought Ebay and of course it was here. Go watch it you'll love it

I receive my package quickly. I have not had one problem with any of the CDs. I purchased the CD because a Co-Worker told me it was a great show. She convinced me I would be interested. I haven't watch very much of the show. I have completed the first CD. But I enjoyed it very much and would recommend the show. It's pretty raw. They hold back no punches but it you can get past that there is some very interesting plots and twists. I will continue purchasing the remaining seasons.

I do not trust shpping by mail or internet much, but all transactions were as effortless as this one, I would do it a lot more often. My item arrived fast and in great shape. It was a gift for a friend and she loved it.

Oz might be the best tv show i've seen, to date. Although it is a bit older, and maybe a little out of date, but in my opinion it was the best show on HBO (next to Sex & the city ofcourse). I cant help but think, is it really like that in prison? Either way, if you like violence, drama, and action, this show is for you. I reccoment it highly.

While it is not exactly a factual representation of life in prison, it has great characterization and story lines. It is not for the feint of heart.
I bought this after catching an episode on HBO and after watching the first season, I am hooked.

The average person will find this show pretty disgusting & offensive, it is. But that's how prison is, a vile place. Oz captures the worst of the worst. Very entertaining, informative, and if nothing else....a great deterrent. The prison system is broken, Oz shows this.

This is a great series-- not for people who are squeamish-- don't watch with young children. It is an IN YOUR FACE look at prison life. very scary-- but a great cast did a super job to make it that way.

I did not receive this item yet, despite delivery promised by 1/28/08. I contacted the seller 3 times and half.com / e-bay 3-4 times. I keep getting stupid surveys, but no satisfaction with resolving this issue.....Please help.

i know nothing about the movie, i just got it for a GIFT. I found it on e bay and it was a good price. the best i could find.

Oz was a ground-breaking series -- replete with raw language, nudity and sex. But the plot lines were always true to the situation of a high-security prison. The barriers between the good guys and the bad guys were never clear because the guards, inmates and administrators all have elements of human good and bad.
Each episode is framed by a paralyzed philosophical inmate who makes sense out of some situations and something close to hopelessness about others.
I have Seasons 1 and 2 and plan to buy the others.

I rented season 5 from a video store one weekend when I didn't have anything to do. I became very interested in it and wanted to go back to the first season so I could see why the things happening in season 5 came to be. It was like getting a new book and starting to read in the middle. I looked for the other seasons in the video shops but they were not complete. I found them on Ebay and purchased them. I now have all the seasons and have started watching them. Great story, very graphic and good acting. I intend on selling the copies I have on Ebay as soon as I finish watching them all. By the way, of the 6 seasons, I was able to purchase 4 of them still in the wrappers, brand new. The other two were only watched once and were in excellent shape.

What I like about this item is the suspense. After each episode they leave you guessing what going to happen next. I decided to buy it because I heard so much about it from friends and family, and I was not dissappointed.

the depiction of prison life at oz was, theoretically, based on a real prison on the east coast. the racial factions seem to be fairly realistic from what this writer has heard described. the characters play their roles quite well.

I didn't dislike any thing about the produce. I love all of the season of Oz when it was on HBO. I was not going to buy it off of the internet but glad I did. The person I brought from was very easy to get incontacted with and the shiped the item out when she got paid.

SICK,, I could not complete watching the 1st disk, It was refered to me by a coworker, and after viewing as much of the 1st disk as I could stand, it went in the trash. Not for normal people to watch.

A great story line to follow, extremely hard to turn off. Great actors, wonderful ups and downs. NOT for the entire family... but approprate for adults

This is one of the best cable series I have ever seen. It is definitely an adult series and not for the weak at heart. However, that being said, Oz focuses on an experimental unit at a State Penitentiary. The story of the events that take place in Oz (or Emerald City, as it is nicknamed) is told through one inmate, Augustus Hill. The series (6 seasons) has many people the viewer may recognize from other series such as Law & Order: SVU, Law & Order: CI, and others. The characters are all strong, each in their own ways. Some are fearless and fearful others are put into Oz to "set an example". When their lives mix there are no boundaries to which these people can destroy a man's life. Others use the system. The people who work at Oz are also quite varied with different ideas as to how Oz should be run. The opportunities at Oz are very proactive but most use that leniency to their advantage which makes Oz a haven for drugs, sex and violence.
The subject matter of Oz is brutal but as close to the real thing as many of us (hopefully) will ever see. If this sounds like something interesting to you I urge you to view it for yourself. I promise if you do, you will not stop with Season One. Best regards.

Well as a growing teen at around 14 or 15, which was about 5 years ago, i would tune into HBO on wednesday nights if i am not mistaken. This OZ series was totally awesome and addicting to watch. When i saw that you could buy anything on EBAY i certainly had to buy these OZ series. As for season 1, i watched 8 hours of the oz episodes. It just makes you think on how corrupt prisons are, how the prinson guards work with the inmates to make a bit of cash. Disc one, two and three are totally great disc that will keep you wanting more and more. In my opinion this has to be one of the best series HBO has ever aired on TV. I also think it brought me in and made me want more than the sopranos ever did. If you are an Oz fan or not, you totally need to pick this first season up. Youll see the cycle of murders in prison, and than the uniting of the prisoners as they start a RIOT in the OZ facility!!! I give this season a 8.5 out of 10!!!
